The reason cars are expensive in Pakistan are these are considered as "status symbol". While in other countries cars are more or less a basic necessity and a lot cheaper than what we pay for these in this third world country of ours. In UK, used cars are sold for the price of peanuts and so in other countries. A friend of mine bought 2009 corolla gli for 5 lac pkr in qatar while same in pakistan is for 12 - 13 lac. I mean where are we heading by justifying such pricing?
Even in neighboring country India, new cars are so much cheap. Just compare this New cultus with indian celerio or PK Wagon R with Indian Wagon R and one will get the idea how much greedy parasitic our auto industry is. And we people are responsible for it who agree to pay higher prices and our governments too who take bribes from these Big 3 to let them continue their monopoly and put hurdle in the paths of new entrants.
