As i stated above, 82 C keeps engine temp at around 82 C, and for 3 cylinder engine 82 C is good enough.

I don't want to risk warping my engine head and all the other issues that come with over heatin

Surely 88 one will not cause overheating to that extend but it is better to use the one it is designed to work with.

your engine is definitely newer technology and is most likely built to be driven around that temp. Hence I need an 82 one.

How did you reach that conclusion?

I assumed 660cc+EFI= new Suzuki Alto?
the point being it would be better to use something that the engine is designed to work with. Just because I can use an 88 c thermostat in a car that requires and 82 c thermostat albeit the difference is 6 degrees, doesn't mean I should.

I have a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine from 1990. It is 30+ years old, and older than your Cultus' engine. I have used both 82 degree and 88 degree thermostats, and currently use the 88 type. At 110kph and 5,500rpm with 7 psi of boost, the coolant temperature is a pretty much constant 75 degrees.

Your engine is designed to work with both 82 and 88 degree thermostats. Having a thermostat is better than having none at all, for many, many important reasons.

Having a lower temperature thermostat does not protect the car from overheating. It only sets the floor for the operating temperature range for the cooling system. Also, the thermostat begins to open at the specified temperature, it does not maintain that temperature. Consumer gasoline combustion engines generally like living at or above 90 degrees C. That is part of the reason your radiator cap maintains higher-than-atmospheric pressure in the system.

This wont fit, the flange is too wide,

Fit an 88c tstat, make sure the system is corroded or full of trash or rust, and itll be fine.

I own two different brands of cars both 4 cyl and both have tstat and waterpump on same location of engine.

One engine has an 88c stat and one has an 82c stat, both cars maintain temperature at 90c. The difference is that one cars coolant bypass passage is a single bypass, the other has twin bypass. One holds 6 litres and one holds 6.5 litres of coolant.

But

The car with 88c tstat gets to operating temperature within 100 seconds of cold start in summer and within 600 seconds in very cold weather (0C) - due to how the cooling system is plumbed,

The car with 82c stat takes longer to warm up. (I dont like that)

All cars are different, I was wondering about a carburetor cultus specifically. Alright ill do an 88 one. What is a good brand I can trust? I am close to super autos on Tariq road. I will be visiting sadder sometime next week and will try to see if Mehran motors (where I purchased my brand new alto) will have one. The only reason I am skeptical of purchasing from dealerships is due to the fact that they have a tendency to overcharge. Please reccomend a quality brand that I can trust incase the dealership doesn't have one.

are there any chances of the the head warping? Earlier I saw in this thread that someone cut the gaps in between their intake manifold in order to avoid gasket failures etc or when the head expands when the engine is running hot. Do I need to do that before installing an 88c thermostat valve? My intake manifold gasket is already leaking, so should I do that? Do I need to drain the oil to change the gasket on my intake manifold.

So I cleaned radiator using citiric acid, then washing with baking soda, then also used Total radiator cleaner.
After that cooling system has started to drink water like a thirsty camel.
Showed it to radiator guy who referred me to mechanic. Head gasket needs replacement. OEM part is 11k and after marker is 700-1000 max.
@Xulfiqar how much of a performance difference an I looking at between these two options? How much of a risk am I running if I go for after market. Please guide as per you experience

Salam brother. The reason to tag me was that I recently experienced all this.
Similar procedure performed, ended up witb a bad gasket and turned out that the head was damaged already and the previous mechanic had used epoxy to seal that.
I have a khyber
Got Japanese head gasket for 700rs. Car is running fine.

However, overall expense was way more than this as it included labor for opening and fitting the head, machinist, other parts, etc

I have personally experienced 2-3 times the same issue and 3rd one also similar one in which I did Engine flush which resulted in overhauling engine finally.

Similarly 2 times, Citric acid flush treatment gave me similar experience.

3rd one I did with @miqdadkanani on his Khyber and similar experience
