Suzuki GS-150 Timing Belt

I want to know some details about Timing Belt of Suzuki GS-150 Bikes and
What is the lifespan of a timing chain vs. a timing belt?

I know timing belts wear out and need to get replaced after a certain mileage. My friend says the timing chain on a engine should last for the entire life of the bike, but I think that is a little optimistic. Are timing chains that much better? Why would they even put timing belts on a bikes if they can wear out if a chain does the same function more or less?<abbr title="2009-11-09 19:18:33 +0000"></abbr>

Yeah I know the timing belt is quieter and cheaper, but doesn't it destroy the engine when it breaks?

Please share your experiences specially related to Suzuki GS-150 Bikes.

when belt breaks off engine dies immediately with check engine light repeated kick or cranking result in valve de-shape but rework can be done at less cost then whole engine job.

Belts make engine SILENT chains are metallic NOISY need constant lubrication, belt change is recommended every 100,000 KM and costs less.

Bro Both the timing belt & Timing chain must have certain pros & cons according to diffrent engine Design & specific requirments.
Talking specificaly about bikes the service life span of timing chain in smaller bikes available here in pakistan may seems relatively low as compare to Timing belts service life on cars but i m still confused about ur question as i dont think u can replace Timing chain with timing belt or vice versa in any type of engine.

Regarding Suzuki GS 150 bike it is equiped with Timing chain & u cant replace it with a rubber belt.
However as per my personal opinion & observations timing chain of GS 150 bike has relatively less life span or more waer out complaints as compared to other bikes here in Pakistani market.

According to my information Suzuki GS-150 has Overhead Cam (OHC) engine, so how chain can works in such type of engine. Normally chain can works in Overhead Valve (OHV) engines.

Please also explore Suzuki GS-150, so we may take benefit from your knowledge.
