Brother, some people don't think like the 'transformer' looks of The YBR!
I prefer old school, vintage style motorcycles with round headlights, dual shocks, spoke wheels, steel cradle body frame, air-cooled engines and of course; a 'bench' seat!
And I believe, BELIEVE that I'm not the only one. Here's why:
Here's a 2017-18 Honda CB1100EX with an old school inline-4 air cooed engine which is a great sales success in Europe and North America:
And then there are bikes like:
Yamaha SR400:
Triumph T120:
The bikes above are actually 2017-18 models but they look like as if they're 30 or so years old! Then there's whole Royal Enfield's line-up, Moto Guzzi's excellent V7 Series, Triumph's Speed Twin, all retro bikes which look like they're from The 70s.
And then there's Kawasaki Z900RS:
Z900RS is a modern bike, as you can see with single mono shock, water cooled engine (The cooling-fins on the cylinder head are fake, like on those Triumphs!) and USD forks with massive; modern dual disk-brake set-up. It's basically this bike:
But Kawasaki heavily restyled it because that's what the westren markets demand!
Yamaha did the same thing with its XSR700 and XSR900 which are based on FZ07 and FZ09 respectively. And now Americans are demanding an XSR1000 based on FZ10 with The Yamaha R1 engine! And Ducati also did the same thing with its Scrambler 400, 800 and 1100 which are based on Monster 796 and Monster 1100 raodsters.
So, like they say:
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
I don't mind YBR's looks, it's a gorgeous bike in its own right. But don't bash the old school, clean and minimalistic looks of old bikes!
Good Day!
