Hi all.
I have recently bought Suzuki GS450e (1988 model). After a day I noticed that the fuel switch was placed on "PRI" instead of "ON". I switched it back to ON where it should ideally be, but it turned out that there was no fuel pipe connecting the ON-RES fuel outlet with the carbs. I did some piping work and connected the carbs (connections are properly made in the right places) and when I started the bike, it ran fine on PRI. But as soon as I switched it to ON, the engine slowly died out. Then I tried to start it with the switch placed at ON but it won't start. The engine is sucking oil from the tank properly and I verified that there is no blockage of the oil switch of the tank. I need to know why the engine is not running when I turn the switch to ON or RES? PRI is ok to be used for sometime if the bike is started after staying parked for a long time but I read somewhere that continuously running it on PRI setting can not only cause more fuel consumption than normal, it can also end up in diluting the engine oil and in the worst case, result in a hydro lock.
Please advise me on this. The bike runs smoothly when I run it on PRI but after reading about it, I do not feel comfortable in running on PRI in the long run.
