Suzuki internal news regarding Wagon-R and Alto

I dont understand this. Suzuki has a big market share in PAkistan, so why cant they build engines here? I want my country to have the technology. There shoudl be no trade liberalization with Indian in automobile sector. We need policy overhaul so that more investment is encouraged in auto manufcaturing technology.

Trade liberalization with India has its advantages it will result in freight savings and reduced costs as a result of import substitution (e.g cost to import an engine from India will be less than importing from Japan). Given the current state of the auto industry, it will have to either import parts from Japan or India or some other country like Thailand. OEM's have not transferred technology properly to the country and neither has the government negotiated properly with these countries for technology transfer - sad situation but true. On top of it due to the ongoing energy crisis and various other political issues the cost of manufacturing in Pakistan is not competitive either

Any further updates would be received only after that indian trade venture . Plus the cars are due in 2013 Q2 n so there is ample time available inbetween .

I have one question from you that why ENGINES are always problem for Suzuki in Pakistan why cant they bring new engines, is that a big problem all companies do this if they can put POtohar engine in Alto then why cant they make that engine EFI as they did with Mehran.

I dont understand that what the hell Suzuki is doing other new companies are bringing new cars in Local assemble like recently HAJJ group start assembling 1000 cc picks up in Pakistan and Suzuki which is 75% own by Japan and has big pockets cant bring a new small 1000 CC engine?

Or may be they want to wind up business from Pakistan.

what i have gathered after talking to them , the ONLY reason they present is the price ,
the cost of doing business has tripled in Pakistan , because of energy crises , inflation , devalued currency , and all the economic factors combined .

and because of all this , they had to raise their prices sufficiently to sustain their ongoing operations ,
if they bring newer technology engines here , the cost per unit would raise by atleast 120k . which they absolutely do not want to happen in the price dominated area of the market where they rule .

a meharban for 7 lac plus , and an alto reaching 9 lacs...

this would kill their market and make people switch to imported cars like KIE , Jap-Alto , WAGON-R and others who will fall below what suzuki would be able to offer.

so this is the MAIN reason . prevent PRICE INCREASE substantially , and provide the cheapest possible product .

this piece of news CONFIRMS that paksuzuki is waiting for this trade venture with india , to launch a car with a EURO ll carby engine.

now capsat stated that they are launching a new EFI engine hatchback ...

while the news points out they are waiting for the carby engine , to continue alto , (or) launch wagon-r ( according to my sources)

or it might be this way that meanwhile the this trade venture finalizes , they are moving on with their other launch , as capsat told , and then aftwards , when this trade venture finalises , they will launch wagon-r , or ALTO would be continued. lets see..

couldnt agree more , its a CARTEL upthere , where each segment is busy monopolizing the market area where it is demanded.
sad truth , but we are equally responsible for making these goons sit in our government offices , who are extorting the hell out of the local industry , and we end up paying them back .

A euro II and and a Carby engine is a khusra engine, Which to my knowledge isnt possible.

Euro II standardization means the use of EFI technology, Or else their would have been a Catalyst convertor in mehran in 2005. And no EFI mehran till date,.

Thanks for the correction , I wasn't aware that this wasn't a possibility ,

Thee atricle says that they are waiting for trade venture so they can import the carburator engine ,
And also states that. It would be euro ll complaint engines they want from india .

This is confusing me , which engine is this to be exact ? As far as I know the alto engine was never an EFI engine , but a carby .

Please shed some more light on this engine which they are in " ISHQ " with ..

I would love if id have any insight, im not sure what engine do they (indians) use in the other cars, But if its an Alto like or segment car, In India their is Alto 800 and Alto K10. Im not sure if they have another 1000cc engine.

^WagonR, AltoK10, AStar use the K10B Engine [998cc][BSIV/Euro4] and Maruti 800 uses 1C2V MPFI Engine[796cc][BSIII/Euro3].Alto 800 uses F8D [796cc][BSIV/Euro4]

It seems Mehran engine is same as of maruti 800 (indian mehran)

So Suzuki can bring new Euro 3 engine in Wagon R and Alto. And now the age limit is 3 Years so no more used cars.
