Suzuki Khyber Engine oil burning

Hi Pakwheelers.
I'm currently using 20w-50 havoline in my 1998 suzuki Khyber...and its almost 165k km driven...i always changed my oil after 3500km interval...but since last 2 3 oil changes its oil is getting low after 1200 to 1500 km...
Keep in mind i have talked to a some mechanic..they checked the car..no blue smoke is coming out of exhaust which is the sign of bad piston rings..nor it has any sound which tells piston rings are bad or not...i mean engine sounds healthy..also there isn't any leakage of oil whatsoever..
Now I'm planning to give a try to fully synthetic oil..grade 20w-50 but not sure about which brand i should use...
Please suggest what should i do?
Should i switch to synthetic oil? (If yes then which brand and grade).
Please share your experiences.. Don't make any guesses.

Its burning oil so get a compression test to be sure. Synthetic will be thinner and might cause more oil burning.

Hows plugs condition? If its burning less than 1 L per 2000 KM you may continue using it.

What's the compression of your engine? And any oil residue on plugs?

Immediately go for compression test and it will give you exact xray of your Engine... Don't use synthetic because it will be waste of money then.

Instead of 20w50, use unigrade single grade oil like number 50 which will be heavier and will pass your some days till overhauling of complete Engine.

I've watched the very recent video of Pakwheels on engine oils...in that video they discussed whether the engine is old or new we can use synthetic oil..also the mineral oil gets more thinner when it gets hot..on the flip side synthetic oils keep its viscosity and perform well...
That's why i decided to try synthetic oil..
Since the oil I'm currently using is Havoline 20w-50 which is a mineral oil.

I haven't get done any compression test yet..but now i would go for it..
And the spark plugs have minor black residue which my mechanic cleans off with the wire wheel on tuning and tapits adjustment..

Okay first i should go for compression test...
Btw i was planning to get the piston rings done but the car wasn't giving any blue smoke thats why i wanted to discuss and get a try of synthetic oil..
Eventually i have planned to get the piston rings done...

Mineral oil loses viscosity earlier than synthetic but thats the reason we change them early. You may give it a try but once it starts consuming oil such things does not help that much. Compression test can tell you clear picture if you are not sure about symptoms.

Please tell me what the compression reading should be? I mean at how much reading i could figure out that it's healthy or bad?
