experts i need ur help...i hav khyber 98 ...recently i have replaced the carburetoe wid the new one.....i changed it bcz it was giving black smoke n low milage ...tried to fix the old one bt finally i had to but the new one...nw the milage is ok lky its giving me 14km / liter wid 70% ac on long route n 10km wid 30 ac in city... its been 6 months that i hav changed bt still there is a lot of carbon in the exhaust...i have changed the plugs ,had tunning,changed oil recently n mixture also adjusted bt no results....keep in mind that my car has done 135000km n rings r ok bt i hav to put an extra half litre oil after every 1000 km...so tell me wats rong wid my car....is it engine prob lyk due to rings or due to bad ignition or wat ???plz experts reply fast..thanx

14km/litre is good.
The smoke is mostly caused due to rings,
They may be needing replacement.

Regarding the steering issue,
Im also having the same issues as yours.
I got the tie rods changed 4~5 months back but the steering is causing some vibrations.
Moreover the area just below the steering wheel creates sounds on uneven roads as if something is loose.
Do let me know what does your mechanic says about the steering issue.

he said, the rack & pinion steering needs periodic settings, & if the steering pinions are worn out, then the steering has to be replaced.

well 14 is very good

secondly alot carbon maybe there on pistons...which is coming out

if it is drinking oil then yr engine need attention..you need to work on it

i think so that the meter is damaged.....becaz as far as i knw....there r recoil springs in the meter which bring back the needle to initial position,0km/h..or else without those springs the needle would stays at the mark of maximum value of speed achieved(basic science)...if meter is opened the springs' fitting is damaged....or this also happen when meter gets old because the springs are worn with passage of time....
These r the reason for unstable needle of any meter...either speedo,rpm,galvano,volt etc...

My mechanic told me the same but he said that its ok.
He said that the sound from my car is almost negligible and I should continue driving with it.

Hello Khyber experts....

I have a Khyber 99. Some days ago it didnt start after getting it serviced. After many attempts, it did start but was giving cracker noises on starting and jerks at low speeds. Took it to a mechanic, who said that the jerks are due to water getting into the system and it will get ok when dry.

When I said it gets heated up too, he said that the Gasket was damaged and needed a change. I got the gasket changed but the jerk and heating problem remained.

Yesterday, heavy smoke started to come out of the exhaust pipe and then from the engine compartment.

Please let me know what the problem is and how can it be repaired. Also please let me know if there is a good Khyber mechanic in Karachi..

That could have been because of water getting into your distributor during service.
Never use high pressure water jet for servicing your engine.
You could have opened the distributor and checked the inside for any moisture.

70% heatup cases are caused due to a choked radiator.
Get your radiator serviced and then check the results.

A small amount of engine oil is leaking from the four nuts which hold the tappet cover. Although it is not a big issue but it irritates me even if there is a small problem with my car.
The mechanic told me to change the tappet cover washers. These washers have rubber attached beneath them which prevents the oil leakage. Normal rubber can not withstand the high temperature of tappet cover. I had been trying to find them for a month but was not able to find them. Today luckily I found them from Kiyani Autos, Gawalmandi, Rawalpindi. I will change them tomorrow morning.

^ If the bulbs in the side indicators of the new Suzuki Carry van are the same as in Khyber then you can fit them with the same white cover.
