umm....just take it off and clean it with an old cloth. it will inevitably get oily again. oil gets splashed around when the engine runs

I believe that API SM/SN is no problem for our low output OHC econoboxes with flat tappets, as long as the cams have been broken in properly from the factory/ after a rebuild.

Engines with performance cams are instantly recognizable from their sound at idle; you will never hear that sound on a street motor. For those motors, a high ZDDP oil is necessary (if they are flat tappets).

Well my friend has a 2010 efi cultus. He has been maintaining it on shell helix hx5 10w40 api sn and last week his engine started making a funny sound. Took it over to the mechanic and the cam was badly worn out. His mechanic said that you have been pouring very thin oil, thats y the cam failed. I suspect that this was because of driving it on api sn. However when I had presented his mechanic with the zddp logic, he started laughing. "Bhai mota haail daalna chahiye in gaarrion me"

these engines can support xw30 oils even. but i really think this was either because of the wrong oil or a non functional pcv

you will almost never hear that performance cam burbly loping idle sound in Pakistan unless you own such car yourself.

20W-50 is though an old oil grade but it is best suited to Pakistani environment and hot weather. If API is SN, then it is fine and will not harm the engine and provide it best heat protection.

SM is better than SG, but SG wud not do any harm too bro

I'd shift to api sg wala sgo, if I were you. However, you may also try zic m 15w40 api sj

i want to set the tappets of my car .can any one tell me what should b the inlet n exhaust valve clearance ?i knw the firing order is 1,3,2 bt tel me 1 no piston from distributor side or timing belt side?.n should i do the valve clearance on cold engine or warm .rite now the plug gaps r 0.8 mm .is it fine or should i set them on 0.75mm. n n if anything else i m not mention kindly let me know .thanks

i have a prob in my car .this prob is nt after the engine built up bt before it ..the prob is that when the car in on idle n weh i rev the engine suddenly there is a bit black smoke from the exhaust pipe .car halka sa gut ka then rpm pakrti hai .other than that there is no issue wid consumption, the plugs r nt sooty ..n this happens wen the car is warm lyke start krnay ke 5 to 10 mins bad ...bus idle pe krti hai nt wen the car is moving ...mein nay 2010 mein is issue ke waja se carb change kiya with the new genuine bt still kam ni bana .mixture b thik hai ..before the engine rebulit i thought that may b its bcz off the bad valve seats bt built ke bad b yehi masla hai ..can anyone help me what is the prob
