Suzuki Liana Cranking but not Starting

Hello All,

I have been facing a strange issue since a couple of days. It started 4 days ago when I was driving my Liana after push starting it because it had been stationary for one and a half month. The car turned off suddenly while driving but started back up a couple of minutes.

One day later, after many successful cranks and driving around, I stopped at a store to pick up some groceries around midnight. The car started but the engine died when I tried reversing it back. Started again and died as soon as I pressed the clutch. Won't start after that.

Today, after inspecting all fuses in the engine bay and under the dashboard, I interchanged the immobilizer and the hazard fuses and the car started up like there was no issue. Turned it off and tried again and it started like a beauty. After an hour, I started the car to go somewhere and when I put it in reverse, it died. Started again and it died right after pressing the clutch. It won't start after that again.

I'm kinda lost here as I turned away the Autogenie tech as the car had started and none of the dealerships would send a tech with the scanner.

Very strange issue, did you get its battery checked? It could be the problem of a battery creating resistance, thus unable to charge properly.

I haven't gotten the battery checked but it cranks perfectly, which means the Amps are ok.

Another thing that I missed was that I can hear the fuel pump and I checked by disconnecting the fuel return line and the fuel is coming in on ignition before cranking.

I have checked the Workshop manual but I'm unable to figure out which relays are for what? Please see picture below:

There's a secondary relay box right next to it and I don't know which ones are those either:

The problem is that the fuses and relays in the engine compartment are not marked on the fuse box lid.

The car's wiring is stock and nothing installed. I went through the wiring diagram last night and located main heavy duty fuses in the engine bay. I swapped the first 2 60A fuses with each other and unplugged and plugged back in the other 2 30 A and 60A fuses. The car started! I put it in reverse, moved it forward and backwards and the engine remained stable.

However it was late at night and I had to reach the hospital as my mother is in the ICU so I didn't take a chance and left the Liana home.

Just to help everyone, I will share what the issue was.

The Laina ECU throws an error code after a big misfire or a short in the ignition system. Resetting it by disconnecting the battery or by removing the main fuse fixes it.

Plug tower seals were seeping oil, resulting in occasional misfires at that time.
