Suzuki Mehran. Here's the reason why its world's most 'pathetic' car

Things like power windows, GPS navigation, bluetooth, seat belts, air bags, power starring, rev counter, automatic transmission, heated seats, self canceling signals etc are now comes as standard on most modern cars... Whereas even so called 'premium' Mehrans lacks almost everything mentioned above.
Sadly, Necessity became a luxury for us... Thanks to Pak Suzuki... And ironicaly, most of us are cool with that!!!
No air bags, no problem, Mehran rocks! No seat belts, no problem, Mehran rocks! Sigh..

The reason for that is no one gives a bull hsit in Pakistan. No one to follow safety guidelines which are international laws. Even the crappiest car abroad has ABS. It is required by the government.

Over here, Puki, Lota and Tonda pay the gov. huge amounts in taxes and import duties so the Gov. turns a blind eye, risking our safety so they can save some money.

Haha, i am not a JDM lover- i myself have a Swift. Mehran or civic or prius- it depends on the person buying it. I needed a small car with okay-ish looks and fully loaded- i got Swift. next time i will inshAllah get a fuel efficient car but a bit bigger- Prius.
If i wanted a car i could use when shopping in tight places and could afford it being hit by bikes scratched etc- Mehran.

I am not against JDM or PKDM- it's all about preferences! I like Coke- Pakistani made, you might like Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke(Imported).

And yes, Mehran could be exported. But it would have to compete with the price tag of Tata Nano.

Lets look at The Mehran and what we have here?
Rubbish built quality, **** poor performance, coupled with a pathetic fuel economy, poor ride quality and a high price tag and you're basically looking at THE WORLD'S WORST CAR, period.
Before opening your fire (specially Mehran owners), allow me to compare The 2014 EFI Mehran with a 1936 BMW R75 Side-car used extensively by Nazi and Soviet troops (under IMZ Ural, which is basically an R75 clone) throughout the WW2.
Mehran:
Powered by an 800cc water cooled 3-Cylinder engine with EFI.
39BHP @ 5,500rpm.
40ft-lbs @ 3,000rpm.
BMW R75:
Powered by a 750cc air cooled 2-Cylinder engine with carb.
41BHP @ 5,500rpm
42ft-lbs @ 4,300rpm.
Pretty close. Sure peak torque is at 1,500rpm later but its down on 1 cylinder and 50cc of displacement and no radiator, no EFI System.
Even 1930's technology is ahead of 2014 Mehran!!!

There is no doubt; Suzuki is charging much higher than what actually it is providing. That is somewhat business monopoly and that is what they pay government for; to increase more and more tax on the import of JDMs and force buyers to make the local made cars their ultimate choice. That is quite simple, no rocket science.

To most of us, safety is overrated...
What should I say to that?
All I can say right now is that I've witnessed a Mehran crash once and I could never forget it... The Mehran collided with an on coming Corolla head to head. The impact threw out the Mehran drive right out of his car's windshield and he ended up on Corolla's bonnet... Right after his skull smashed on Corolla's windshield... One could literally see his brain...
Poor man died on impact... May his soul rest in peace...
The Corolla driver had only few stitches and a broken nose and he actually walked out of the crash site on his feet. Reason? Air Bags...
Trust me, safety isn't overrated.
