Salaam,
I have a 90000 km petrol driven mehran. Last sunday, I had taken her for tuning and brake service. The tuning included:
- Tappet adjustment
- Replacement of spark plugs
- Replacement of air filter
When returning home from the workshop, the car started malfunctioning and stopped midway. I called up my mechanic and he came over to check and identified that the fuel pump had stopped working. It was not delivering the fuel, thus the engine had stopped. So, I went to the spare parts shop and he handed me over CRLF fuel pump for RS. 500. There was no other quality available e. japanese. So I purchased CRLF and handed it over to the mechanic. The Pump was installed and the car had started up. I had reached home and then had to leave for a function. The car started malfunctioning again with abrupt stops, jerks. The engine kept on abruptly stopping and took entended self. then I had witnessed black smoke emitting from the exhaust. next day i visited the mechanic again and he checked the spark plugs, which had turned black with carbon deposits. The mechanic diagnosed the carburetor to be faulty. I then went to abdul Rehman carburettor wala and he said that the fuel pump is the culprit, claiming these local branded ones are not reliable. I went again to my mechanic who said that burning rich or lean is not due to fuel pump malfunctioning. He tried adjusting the carburettor himself and after that, the problem of black smoke had vanished but the rpm became unstable. After driving about 100 kms, i went again to my mechanic who rechecked the spark plugs, which turned out orange in colour. But the problem of the rpm is still persisting and the car engine shuts down if the accelerator is released.
Now i am stuck in a situation where my mechanic is blaming the carburettor to be the culprit whereas the carburettor wala is blaming the fuel pump. Please help. the car is on petrol only, no cng
