Suzuki Potohar Engine Swap options

I am planning on a new project on my suzuki potohar, I need recommendations and knowledge for the engine swap, need between 150 to 200 hp. I was planning to get a 4GR with a manual trans but I don't have enough knowledge of what motor can I get in and what fabrications or support is required. Honda engine would be welcomed as well, but I need the 4x4 conversion working.

Sounds interesting. I'm not sure the diffs, transfer case and transmission can handle the torque even if the chassis can, with reinforcements. Is the Potohar a 4-speed?

I think you may be successful with the Suzuki M-series motors. There are many, many videos online for this vehicle, from K swaps to LS swaps, that you can watch for inspiration. Most necessitate swapping the transmission and rear end.

I researched a bit and found out it can handle torque and hp figures around 200, I might have to upgrade the cv joints

I cam across the Suzuki Vitara's J20A engine which can be combined with the Jimny's 5 speed trannie, makes about 140 bhp

The SJ can bear around 150 to 200 hp if the base is in good condition and you are not to harsh with your foot, the easiest of all swaps I came across was the g16 or the g13 from the original Jimny Sierra, the g16 is decent amount of power but if you want extra power then the M18 or J20 is the way to go, M18 is preferred more bcz it ways less and the power difference between it and J20 is very little. All these mentioned engines can be mounted with the 5 speed g13 transmission from the Jimny.

Agreed. OP, you should visit your local scrapyard and look at the engines and transmissions available, ask for some quotes.

Pretty much all of the engines you'll find are used scrap with unknown history, and may not develop their factory rated crank horsepower figures without thorough repair and maintenance.

What is the condition of your Potohar's drivetrain? If you end up changing the front and rear ends, the transfer case, the transmission, and the drivetrain, you're only retaining the chassis. Your build may exceed your budget.

GR's are expensive then that.
You might get Suzuki M series in this price
But swap is a separate cost.

in. my opinion go for a 2lt it has optimal hp and a good amount of torque
