While the world has moved on to the 4th generation of famous hatch-back Suzuki Swift and our neighbor country India will soon be seeing this car on their roads whereas Pakistan is expected to get the 3rd-gen Swift somewhere during the next year. This Swift is also heavier than both current gen Swift and all new Swift. Other than being bigger in every dimension than the current Swift the 3rd-gen looks almost similar with bigger and edgier headlights and tail lights. It started it production in 2010 where as it is expected to launch in Pakistan somewhere in 2018, for now we can only speculate the equipment and tech this car will comes with.
Exterior:
The new Swift looks more or less the same when compared to the 2nd-gen available in Pakistan today. The design did get some minor improvements making it more agile than before. Keeping this aside this new Swift defiantly looks sportier and aerodynamic than the last one but it misses on latest visual touches such as LED head light, tail lights and DRL’s. Compared to the current Swift in Pakistan this Swift also benefits from a longer wheelbase, length and width at (2430mm x 3850mm x 1695mm). The height is same as before at 1510mm.

Interior:
The interior of the current Swift isn’t a looker and the 3rd gen is also no exception the quality of material used remains the same with minor soft touch materials used. Just like the exterior the interior got some small changes such as the inclusion of a small TFT display for driver information menu while the center mounted clock has been removed. Internationally the car has been available with features such as climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel mounted controls and on board safety equipment including SRS air bags for the passengers.
Engine Specifications and Fuel Efficiency:
3rd-gen Swift came along with multiple engine configuration including 3 petrol and 1 diesel along with an option of CVT transmission. Out of all these engines the K12B 1.2L petrol engine is the most likely to make its way to Pakistan. It tops out at a max output of 84HP which is less than the 1.3L 90HP of the current Swift in Pakistan and the heaver body means it will be a little slower than the current Swift. This K-series engine is likely to return a fuel average of 18+ Km/l but we can only tell the exact figure when this car gets released officially. There is also a 1.4L and 1.6L engine available in this Swift but we are skeptical if any of these two makes to Pakistan to avoid higher tax on bigger engines.
Price:
Keeping the current pricing strategy of Suzuki Pakistan it’s obvious that this car will be priced somewhere between PKR1.6 Million to PKR 1.8Million for the base mode. The newly released Cultus received a good number of equipment and technology features but the price you pay for all that is quite much and Swift will follow the same footprint. Nonetheless we are sure this new Swift has the potential to attract a lot of buyers looking for a hatchback under PKR 2 Million mark by going against cars such as Toyota Aqua and Honda Fit.
