Suzuki Swift DLX 2012 - Known Problems & Solutions

The local swifts do not have driver seat height adjustment feature.

Bought DX two weeks back drove around 500 KM change stock tyres/rim to
steel alloys with 195/60 R15 Yokohama aspec.
Drive on bumpy road improved a lot also braking and road grip improved.
right now i m getting 10 km/ltr i hope it'll improve after 3000-4000 KM

Only issues i found are

1. Minor Sound after releasing clutch something like dry spring
2. Minor tuck sound if i push hard pedal on low RPM on low gears

if any one encounter these issue please guide me

what about the clutch sound? is it there? im asking cause my swift has also started with this slight sound when i release the pedal...it has 18k on odo

It is really good car having better mileage, small in size, features of sedan, easy to park, better safety features like ABS and Airbags, power steering and reasonable price are the reasons for the acceptance.

Bought a swift DLX late last year. No major issues so far.

I do get a clucth noise after driving for extended periods of time and it goes away when i park for a couple of minutes. It is a lube job issue form what i have been told. Waiting for 5000 km free service to get it checked.

I get 500 KM on full tank. By full tank i mean i fill up as soon as the petrol light comes on. And its been like this since the day i got it (with 10%; i.e. 490-510). Done 2250KM so far (thus ~5 refills at the gas pump). The good bit is turning the AC on recently has not spoiled the fuel eff. greatly.

Hmmm.... What else? Nothing that comes to mind. It is a great car. Sometimes i wonder why Suzuki can't imitate the general parts quality across the line.

I can only compare it to City 2011. The City has more cabin space, boot space, the engine is definitely better (in terms of technology and a bit on fuel efficiency). The rear seats have A/C ducts for feet which is really cool. Apart from that their are aesthetic differences like plastic bits on Window rubbers etc.

The cabin of the two cars is similar -cheap and plastiky. Swift's dial cluster is better IMO, but this is a moot point. The city has KPL indicator in the trip meter. I also like the opening mechanism of Swift as comapred to the City (the ugly key hole on the boot is an eye sore on the city).

But the city lacks Alloys, fog lights, RFID security system, 2DIN/4 speaker stereo. All of these things will cost money and raise the price of city to >2.5lacs, the current difference in price.

I am going to go in for the 5000kms service this weekend. I am going to have the following done.

Oil Changed to Mobil 1 fully synthetic (its 5w-50 i think)
Coolant changed to caltex red
Gear Oil - any suggestions??
plugs to NGK iridiums (what about suzuki genuine iridiums? doesn't swift already have those?)

I need your recommendations/suggestions on the above choices. has any one installed aftermarket filters/intakes??

Awsome car.
Mine is dx with 7k on odo.
Well the mods are alloys, dvd with pioneer d4 sub & kenwood 718 with 4 channel amp, rear view cam, body kit, neons........keyless entry and the latest philips h4 ultravision bulbs added.

Running on petrol, 15-16kmpl on highway 100%ac.

Clutch sound is there......

Havent changed the gear oil on 5k as in the owners manual there is a confusion, one book says gear oil change for jimni only.....so followed that but i think i should go for it after reading the thread.

Hopefully will change the plugs to ik20 after 10k inshAllah.

The clutch gets dried after a feww thousand kms its not a big deal...just get the car serviced properly for SUZUKI MOTORS they will lubricate it them selfves .............

Guys is it recomended to add spacers to improve ground clearance. Actualy after installing body kit, i have to be v carefull on speed breakers & road cuts. 1" aluminium spacer may overcome this issue

Any recomendations/experiances plz share.....

Dont add spacers
Theyll ruin comfort and suspension
Remove bodykit if you are facing low ground clearance issues

I've driven my new swift for around 17,000 KM and kept a record of everytime i re-fueled it. My average over the last 17 thousand KM works out to be 11 KM/Litre ............

Thats one area swift needs to improve upon rest its an awesome trouble free car. Highly recommended

Don't worry bro you wont regret, it is absolutely phenomenal on petrol, and btw don't get worried about the mileage initially, after 5000km it will get better, I am gettin 14.1 in city and trust me guys im not bluffing, recently i put 10.2 liters of petrol and drove it 151km which is around 14.1 - 14.2 km per liter...pretty neat

You wont believe it I have driven mine for 2500 km and I am getting an average of 16.02 kmpl. which includes only 350 km of GT road / highway traveling

Just read your comments regarding fuel average. I have driven mine DLX 15000 so far, & maintained total a record of fuel . I always used shell,s gasoline .The average comes to 13-14/ liter with A/C & 15 with out A/C on local travel. On long routes it gave me 17 & above, may be its due to driving habbits.

I have bought new Swift 2013 DLX. I have also problem of Clutch Noise after long drives inside city. But noise disappears on next trip after I park the car for some time. I checked my clutch and it is properly lubricated. But noise again comes after frequent use of clutch. Plz guide me. What should I do.

I have shifted to Suzuki Swift DLX 2013 from Honda City 2007 and I want to share differences which I observed.

1. City hass slightly more comfortable suspension than swift but difference is very slight. Swift is also very comfortable car.
2. The interior and dashboard of City is made up of very heavy plastic but plastic of dashboard of Swift is light as compared to city.
3. My City 2007 used to do 13 km/l in Lahore and Swift 2013 do 12.5 km/l on same roads.
4. Sound system and speakers of Swift DLX are much better than City. But I do not know about sound system of Swift DX.
5. City has no temparature mearing meter. Only red light blinks when Engine becomes overheated. Swift has temparature meter.
6. Seats of City are more comfortabe and broader than Swift,s.
7. Buttons of power windows of City are hard as compared to Swift's. But power window buttons of City have good quality.
8. As far as I know AC of both cars are good. But i tried the AC of Swift in Winter only. Because I bought it in Winter (January 2013) and summer is far away. I used AC of City in many summers and it is very very awsome and icy cool even at 50'C.
9. City 2007 has no ABS and driver feels discomfort at speed above 110 on GT road and Multan Road where population comes after few kilometers. But brakes of Swift are really awsome and they increase confidence at high speeds. But new Honda City 2009 or above have ABS.
10. All Honda Cities have G force Technology which protect the passengers from injury (even without air bags) because of crushing nature of front and rear parts. City also has Steel guarders in all 4 doors for protection from collision. Swift has no such features.
11. City comes with 5 years rust warranty. I never protect my city from rain for 6 yaers and there is no trace of rust (because there is no garage in my rented house). Swift has no any type of rust warranty.
12. I rudely used City for 2 Lakh Kilometer without a single problem in City and even on lond drives of constant 13 hours. Let's see what will happen with Swift.
13. City touches nearly every speed braker. But ground clearance of Swift is much more than City. It does not touch any speed braker even while carrying 5 person.
14. Engine of City is i.DSI, IVTEC which is based on new technology and such engines give high power at high RPM and best fuel average. Swift has DOHC Engine which is older than City's with slightly reduced power at high RPM. Both engines have same performance at low RPM but City's Engine has better performance at high RPM. City has more weight as compared to Swift but City's engine gives more average as compared to Swift's because it is based on new technology ie i.DSI.

City and Swift should not be compared because City is much more expensive car as compared to swift.
Swift is best car in its price.

Can one suggest how to adjust diving seat height ??/

There is no driving seat height adjustment option in Pakistani assembled Swift. I think this option is available in Japanese Swift.

Discovered Serious Issue in Swift
Recently tested my Swift at high speed at high RPM. The acceleration of car above 100km/h is very low. Acceleration upto 100km/h is quite good but above that speed car seems heavy at 5th gear and crosses 120km/h very slowly. This means that swift's engine has reduced power output at high RPM.

Please test your Swifts above 100km/h at 5th gear and share results.
