Suzuki Swift - Heating Up

I regularly check my car for water and oil, and take proper care of everything. Last night i took my car out for a drive, the ride wasn't as smooth the car was badly missing and the ac stopped working all of a sudden. later the heat indicator sped to H and i stopped my car, filled the water and found out there was a leakage in the car. I refilled water in the radiator and the bottle as well. All i'm worried about that has this heat up issue caused any damage to my engine?

Due to overheat head gasket gets damaged usually. If coolant is leaking then you must fix the leaking first.

First of all, if car is over heating and you pour water in the radiator, it can wrap the head due to change of temperatures. In case of overheating, first thing is to turn on the heater on full blast as it also sheds some temperature. 2ndly park the car and shut it off and wait for some time before you start pouring water to avoid head wrap.

got it fixed, a joint of metal through which the hose pipe of radiator was attached got rusty and it leaked bad.
got it replaced. drained the water and this time i used 1 liter coolant with fresh water.
got it checked with the mechanic he says the gasket is fine as i didn't continue driving when the car heated up. Alhumdo LILLAH
