Got my 40,000 check up / tune up done from Suzuki Mini Motors this Sunday.
Here are the details.
New Engine Air Filter.
Engine Air Filter was replaced with a new one which cost 1831 PKR.
Spark Plugs Adjustment.
The Spark Plugs still have 5000 kms on them before they need to be replaced so the guy took them out. Cleaned them thoroughly with a grinder where the spin blade was made out of a cardboard, checked the gap in the plugs and adjusted it to 100 on my request and placed them back.
Gear Oil.
All of the gear oil was flushed out and replaced with new gear oil. I opted for the standard Suzuki gear oil because I figured if the original gear oil has been working just fine for a 40000 kms, then the same oil won't give me any trouble. 3 bottles of SAE - 90 GL-4 priced at 386 Rs each amounting to 1158 PKR in total.
The guy poured two full bottles and the last bottle half. The saved gear oil I kept with myself.
Nuts and Bolts.
Car was raised and all the nuts and bolts underneath were checked and tightened.
Brakes.
All the brakes (front and back) were cleaned and checked quite thoroughly. The pads were also cleaned a little with raigmaal but nothing out of the ordinary was done. I wanted to replace the rear brake pads but since they did not have any in stock I've opted to delay that till my next engine oil change which will be in 2500 km's InshaaAllah. After the tyres were replaced a little brake oil(few drops) was readded.
Labor Cost = 3000 Rs
Parts Cost (Engine Air Filter) = 1831 Rs
Lubricant (Gear Oil) = 1158 Rs
Sales Tax @ 16 % = 480 Rs
Discount = 600 Rs. (They give you a 20 % discount on total labour if you book an appointment via phone and sometimes give you a 50 % discount)
Total Cost = 5869 Rs.
Verdict.
I would say the job was quite satisfactory. I didn't get my engine oil changed as there was still time left for it. The entire job was done by one mechanic since I stepped into the shop and he himself quitely kept doing whatever I was asking him to do for the entire 2 and a half hours and was extrememly co-operative in giving me feedback and answering all and any questions I had quite respectfully. The supervisors I felt were also decent chaps.
This being said, my car was already in great condition as there was nothing that needed to be worked on or faulty as I try and tackle matters and issues as soon as they pop up.
So all an all it was a good experience.
