bought it from suzuki capital motors sihala for 1100. good thing is they sell left side and right side individually and not as a pair.

Can you post picture of a car manual stating this?
The picture you posted instructs to change the drive belt at 90K.

Bhai I was talking g about timing belt change in case of belt (not chains) e.g cultus, baleno. For swift/Liana having chain drives, the replacement is due around 1lac kms.

I am not astonished to hear this insane price from Suzuki dealer. Go to market and buy original Japanese or Malaysian brake pads. I installed Malaysian brake pads in 2015 in my Liana and they were of 900 rupees only for pair. Still works like a charm. Japanese were around 2200

Since chains are extremely strong and their interval is 1lac kms around, so belts must be replaced half of its life

This is your guess. Car manufacturers do not state this in their manuals, nor a 40K service includes timing belt replacement.

You are WRONG! timing belt is changed at 40k max and timing chain at 90k km! See this image taken from Liana's owner manual (same engine of Swift and same chain)

The image you posted instructs to change the DRIVE belt at 90,000 KMs.
Drive belt is different from timing belt/chains.
Drive belt is the one driving all accessories.
Please do some research before declaring something as WRONG.

that image is posted was out of Swift/Liana manual of M13 engine - and it doesnt have belt but Chain - and that 90k is for this chain! and belt have much shorter change interval and it further reduces in our stop and go traffic. i do not do hawai firing until i know what i am saying. do your research on this

The 90,000 KMs replacement is for DRIVE belt. Not the timing belt/chain.

So you are saying that there is no DRIVE belt in Liana and the A/C compressor and alternator are also run by this chain?
