Swaping of Toyota Duet/Daihatsu Storia engine

Dear Experts,

Kindly suggest the alternate swaping of EJ VE 1000CC engine for Daihatsu Storia/Totota Duet.

Its engine is dead now and parts are not available in Lahore. I also contact Toyota Walton motors and they too refused to arrange parts.

So thats why i submit the requst of its alternate engine swapping without any major modification.

u can get parts from karachi. i think charade has a similar lay out. so u can put some old charade engine.

a friend of mine have 2003 duet and he is also not satisfied with the engine power, its automatic,
some days back he also asked me suggestion for which engine can we put in it.
so i also interested to know

^^^ car is very nice in that price, Far better than alto, santro , i mean its good shape, ABS, Airbags, Comfort drive, but make sure engine is in good condition.

Vitz engine can fit easily also i believe the duet was built with a similar floorplan to the vitz but confirm it from sum expert

hello did the swapping of a toyota duet engen with that of a toyota vitz work for you? amhving the sme problem with mine and am thinking of doing the same. so i wnt to know if its posible.

u cant get vitz engine installed in duet/storia without doing major alterations, what u can do is get a daihatsu move engine which is a bolt to bolt fix And works charm giving good milage aswell

Better late than never.

You can do an engine swap with an E series engine from Daihatsu. Try getting a Daihatsu Terios Kid engine EF-DET 660cc. Also comes in the following cars as far as I know:

Daihatsu Hijet
Daihatsu Move
Daihatsu Cuore TR-XX

Engine is a 660 cc Turbo Engine with a top mount intercooler and a power output equivalent to that of the Duet, with slightly better fuel consumption.

Or if you don't want a turbo engine, go for 850cc ED10 engine from our local Cuore. Pretty easy to find them, fuel average is also decent. Power is low at 44 BHP (Duet has 64) but hey - parts are easy to come by. Personally, I'd like to have the turbo.

Why Daihatsu for a Toyota? Because that Duet is just a rebadged Daihatsu Storia.

But the move engine is just 660CC and the duet is 1000 CC ....Car will remain under powered as one of my close friend had tried this with 660CC storia engine in duet.
