Swat Motorway (81 KM) - Opened for Light Traffic

Swat Motorway has been opened for light traffic from 5th June 2019. It significantly reduces the travel time from Islamabad - Peshawar Motorway M1 till Chakdara from 3 hours to just 45 mins.

Currently around 65 KM out of total 81 KM motorway is complete but one can still easily reach Chakdara in 1 hour 10 min from M1 Sher Khan interchange.

Diversion after 63 KM as the ascend of around 4-5 KM towards tunnel is still under construction.

Diversion is around 6 to 7 KM which is properly carpeted road having two way traffic.

Diversion ascend of around 3-4 KM is having a steep inclination towards tunnel.

Only one tunnel has been opened for traffic. The other tunnel has not yet finalized.

After tunnel there is around 7-8 KM distance to the end point Chakdara which is partially carpeted and partially under construction because of under construction bridges.

@capsat as the motorway is just 81 KM, there is only one service area just before Katlang Interchange (Exit 04). Standard rest area has been proposed which will be developed with time. Meanwhile few containers have been placed for providing washrooms facility and a tuck shop which are currently operational.

I will not recommend travelling on it to swat during eid days. The 6km alternative road is very steep and can not handle rush

It was clear on 5th June. It blocked yesterday for some time on diversion but I hope it’s clear now. One can call 130 for latest updates before going on Swat Motorway.

Thank You for update on Swat Motorway. I have travlled on Swat Motorway in April 2019 when it was partially ready but enjoyed it well.
