Swat Tour from Islamabad - April 2019

Hello,

I am planning a family trip in last week of April 2019 to Swat from Islamabad.

If someone could share any info e.g. road conditions, hotels etc. My tentative plan is as following:

• Day 1: Leave from Islamabad early morning. Reach Bahrain by afternoon. Stay there for night.
• Day 2: Leave my car there to avoid bad roads towards Kalam. Hire another vehicle for Kalam and leave early morning. Visit surroundings of Kalam as most probably Mahodand Lake road would be blocked now a days. We can spend this night in Kalam or come back to Bahrain.
• Day 3: Leave from Kalam to Bahrain early morning. Take my car and visit White Palace, Miandam etc. Stay for night anywhere in those areas.
• Day 4: Leave in noon for Islamabad.

Any suggestions / tips to improve this plan would be appreciated. Thanks

it seems to be a good plan.
Its a good decision to leave the car at Bahrain as road conditions are wrost there.
You can go Usho forst and Matiltan Glacier in Kalam.
You may include Malam Jabba in your progam.

Just visited in Civic from khi. The motorway to Swat is opening on May 1, 2019 (colonel sher khan interchange on m1/swat expressway) so i would recommend to go after that. Good decision to leave car in Bahrain. Do eat trout in Madyan. The roads are in good condition. Early morning in swat is recommended like after 6am as police would force you to stay in single lane during rush hours(after 8am), the way it should be but it would take 2h crossing areas, so early morning is better. Malam Jabba skipping? Travel back to isb after 8pm at night as we did as there was no traffic on the roads and took only about 3h and a bit from Mingora to isb and it wasn't motorway last month so Motorway would help you anyway either day or night should you travel after May 1, 2019.

Thank you for detailed reply. The exact dates are not yet finalized but looking forward to leave or come back to Islamabad on 1st May to avail this mid week holiday.

Did you travel in April 2019? Can you please guide me for my assistance.

It would be my first road trip with my wife & 2 kids.

Walaikumsalam,

Due to some medical emergency at family, I couldn't visit. However, my friends and colleagues have visited since and their experience especially after star of Swat Motorway is good.

Road till Bahrain is very good and then from there till Kalam it is a bit rough.
