We are taught in school & college the important of Swadeshi (Good Manufacture in local companies). That’s true we have taught in our culture to invest & invest. Almost 78% (Claim by IIS) population have their Life Insurance policies. After 1992, post globalization era, our local industries have stand up to the expectation of our people. We do have local brands which are at par to international brands when it comes to quality- Future Group, Pantaloon, Raymond, Park Avenue in Garments; Micromax, Videocon in Electronic Products, Airtel, Reliance, Docomo in telecommunications; ICICI, HDFC, IDBI, SBI, BOI, LIC,GIC in Banking & Insurance; TATA, Mahindra, TVS, Hero Group in automobile group.
The fact is that our growth was unbalanced and fast from 1992, it was unplanned & unexpected so that you will see our old cities are not planned properly. But if you visit New Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore they are planned city.
One more thing that our state government s( I Know only about Maharashtra Govt) are doing no Education fees till 10[SUP]th[/SUP] STD and For girls till 10+2. Also we have many other facilities Scholarship, reservation for poor people in College seats. For example we have 25% reserves seats for student whose monthly family income is lower than 1.5 Lacs, so that even poor people will get education. For NT (Nomal Tribes) they have to pay only 20% of college fees + they will get sure shot placement. A company whether MNC or Local has to follow norm in employment means reservation for poor people.
One more great decision that Jawaharlal Nehru took is to end Zamindari system, where as Pakistan dint do it.
