Well, I should not be biased here. Being a monster in displacement & unique in it's crankshaft design the r1 is one angry bike. Torque is really impressive. However, being speedy is not everything a rider want since we are not using them for tracks only.
R1 is only meant for cold weather and long patches.
Heat vents on r1 is killer. It starts burning your thighs which feels really uncomfortable. Once you turn off the bike in the state of radiator fans turned on than you are not gonna use that bike for at-least 10 mins so engine can cool down a bit and can be started again.The sitting position on it is kinda track oriented hence rider get fatigue after some time only.
That's why from sometime now the bike started to loose its charm in PKDM market.
However, GSX-R's are one great machines when it comes to comfortable riding. There mid range is pretty impressive which is beneficial on streets. Vents location & sitting position is perfect. Also a bit friendly in throttle due to lesser displacement. But that doesn't mean you can't push it against a liter bike
