Tappets should b adjusted in cold or hot engine?

tappets should b adjusted in cold or hot engine ?
as i read in the manuals provided from the automobile manufacturers that some gap settings of valve clearance like 0.13-0.18 mm (cold) .
So what if we are setting the tappets when it is hot ? should we set the gap less than 0.05 - 0.07 mm (when engine is hot) or what ?

and more over do share that which is better ? setting the tappets in cold or hot engine ?

i did some googling but found BOTH methods ok , some prefer cold while other prefers hot .

be patient...let the engine cool and then set them according to factory specs.

let engine cool down minimum 3 hours then adjust the tappets

Cold Engine adjustment is good for Honda Engines speciafically...Dont hav much info about others.

regarding tappet settings etc is the car i want to know about is Suzuki Alto 1000cc modified ,the problem i m facing these days that when the car engine is cold (mornings) and i start driving , it fells like that the car is missing and loosing some power, and when the temp reached half (temp needle) it works fine but it is not like before (around 3 to 4 months back) i already changed the mobil oil too ( i use mobil-1) and i recently changed as the older one was about to complete its service life, i checked the sparx NGK iridium, msd2 coil all are fine, ground stabilizer is also working fine, volts are constant ! what you guys think , should i go for tappet settings ?? this wht my instincts are saying too .

nadeem 5476 its tappet problems set tappet when engine temp is 27 degree centigrade
for intake use .15mm and for exhaust .16mm yaar i do same with my altovxr 2007 yaqeen karo cng per start karo subah and see u can wash ur hand with water coming from silencer

dude if you do it cold then do the lesser settings...
and if you do it at hot then you have to be quick about it so that all valves on all cylinders are done the same coz the engine cools fassssst!

tappet setting increases at hot. gets lower on cold...it coz of expansion of head/valves bla bla bla....

always do that on a dead cold engine - and they should be done like the factory has recommended i.e. from the cam side or the valve side.
