Morning Team Unimog,
Finally, work on my Punga has started today & target is to hit the next IJC event after Ramadan followed by another series of hunting.
DeeDee thanks a lot for your advice, I am taking it step by step but all steps simultaneously due to shortage of time :). Mog all 4 wheels have been lifted, brake hub cylinders have been taken off from 3 wheels so far. Both rear cylinders were jammed, front hub still had signs of mud picked from indus in last December.
I will look to replace all 4 with new 1s (if sourced from Rawalpindi Sadar) else these will be polished, at least pistons will be changed, new rubbers etc. to re-furbish them completely. Front brake lines on differential were pressed and same will be given for re-built. I think only right wheel was working on brakes & current fitness test result - Failed
Brake Master cylinder has sufficient space to fit some modern technology, after wheels the mechanic will open the same with plate and we will search the market to find a decent servo.
Bad News from Diffs, it didnât worked, while exploring it further I found the bleed nipple on rear diffs dried up. However the diff bottle is filled with oil, I will be working on clearing the oil lines, bleed them and re-test. Else, the UNIMOG gear expert in Lahore will be asked for assistance.
I found the engine bit smoky, nosels need some work which is also targeted today, Step 2 will be the tuning of pump.
All old fluids diff, engine, gear, brake, hubs will be replaced with fresh oil
After getting free form these mechanical jobs done, Mog will visit the denter surgeon to shape up the right corner which seems rusty & few dents of last yearâs service. In the end it will go to electrician, both of these activities are planned on next week-end. Letâs hope to close this week on high note!
I would try to post the update on these jobs in the eve
