i am also looking forward to restore a unimog into a caravan .but i will need a long chasis for this as i am planning to make a double can and then a caravan at the back.

however i have some questions.
can the unimog be converted to a Right Hand??
which models are available with army and are they any good to restore?

@ZKM, regarding your query for conversion, its not recommended due to space constraints, my query why you want to convert it to right hand? In Unimog your eye level is already 9-9.5 above the ground!

Our Army has 2.5ton variant as well (Still in Service) which more or less has the same width as 421.129 and slightly longer in length but not enough to support double cab carvan conversion, for that you would need to increase its length further and compromise on approach angle, center of gravity and stability.

I would suggest you to attempt single cabin carvan and connect driver's cabin with rear cab!

@ZKM..... Basharatu has explained rightly.... just to clear you.... Pakistan Army only has 3 Unimog version:

1)421.128
soft top, troop carrier, (called 1.25toner in Army) 102inch wheelbase, 2.4L, 4cyl, 65HP, Torque 145nm

2)421.129
Hard top, Ambulance (camper), rest is same as 421.128

3)416
Hard top with daala (called 2.5toner in Army) 114inch wheelbase, 5.7L 6cyl, 110HP, Torque 314 @ 1600RPM

you have to fore go your desire for one.... either double cabin or camper. i would suggest go for Ambulance model....

or else import either Unimog 1550L or 1300L a true double cabin camper ever made....

On mogs dayout when we entered the offroad area..... RKR start shouting daba daba bhaga bhaga..... and next what we saw DeeMogs bonut flying high in the sky..... we fixed it.... move further ahead saw Mud (yummy) patch.... RKR again start shouting.... daba daba bhaga bhaga.... and than steering came out of the cross and DeeMogs start dancing on a rap music.... thanks God she stoped in middle of Mud and than we drove her out to dry patch without steering :P.... as usuall everyone came and start fixing ....

@RKR/fihsak.... we had lot of fun togather.... we broke our rides.... sometime it was fihsak's head
