The Tesla Model Y, a compact electric SUV is likely to be unveiled tomorrow (March 14) at 8 pm (Pacific time). Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, Inc. broke the news through a Tweet.

The latest brainchild of Musk is part of his broader plan where he wants to popularize vehicles which run on sustainable energy sources. While the vehicle is set for unveiling tomorrow, it is worth reminding our readers that Tesla Model Y will not be seen on the roads anytime soon.
What is Model Y?
While no one has seen Model Y outside of Tesla but the following is known about it, thanks to Musks tweets and other public statements:
It is the crossover version of the Tesla Model 3 sedan. It will share 75% of its components with the Model 3. This means that Model Y will be similar to Model 3 in width, length and wheelbase. However, Model Y will be taller than Model 3.
So, when will it be available?
At a Tesla event in June 2018, Musk said that the company was aiming for Model Y's unveiling in March 2019 and then go into production from there onwards. Musk further said that Model Y would go into production in the first half of 2020.
Price
As Musk's tweet clearly states, Model Y will cost 10% more than the Model 3. Consumers in the US are essentially looking at a price tag of almost $40,000. For this price, Tesla anticipates soaring sales and plans for manufacturing one million Model Y's per year. Tesla expects a soaring demand for Model Y since the mid-size SUV's are the most popular vehicle worldwide.
