I have a UPS related query.

2 cells of our UPS battery have died. Its running on one cell. The battery is a 175A VOLTA. The obvious new answer is getting a new one but we only have 15-20 days left here, then we are moving abroad.

So the question is can i get it repaired some how so that it lasts for two weeks?

Bought homage ups for 10k on 17th May. It didn't even last a single night. :mad:
Gave it in warranty the very next day. Switched back to my local ups.

Yes it is possible. You can go for a small system with 12V 300 Watt solar panels and a 20A charge controller. You have to make or purchase auto shift switch in order to toggle between solar or wapda. Secondly if u dont want to go for this auto switch then make a manual two way switch to shift between wapda and solar energy. Hope this helps.

I understand I'll need the PV panels plus MPPT charge controller. Now for the auto-switch, where in the circuit do I place it? I guess the grid will be one feed into it. A diagram would be great.

Another important thing. Any suggestions for brands/models of the panels, MPPT, and auto-switch? Who are the more reliable dealers in Rawalpindi?

MMPT charge controllers are expensive. In my opinion its not good to add in existing UPS system. Buy PWN is better if u need only charge controller. Share your power requirement I will help u for proposal.

6,400 Watts supporting two hybrid inverters 3 KW each
cost is i think 2million not sure though. have to go and see the sytem for myself so cant say much

wanted to change his old civic with a new one but opted for Solar power instead!

Cheers @rizwan400. We current have a non-brand name sort of UPS which says it's 2000W 24V/DC. It does have two Volta NS 175 12V batteries (which I guess are 150 AH since they're 21 plate). I'd like to add 4 240W mono PV panels for 960W plus a PWM CC (which I agree would be a better choice for this setup). What I'd like to have is my version of a DIY hybrid system which is why I asked the question about the transfer switch or some mechanism that would be able to switch between solar and grid. Unless of course I can get some more logic than just switching (e.g. prioritisation). Thanks for your help.

That's a great setup. Can you share some more details like what kind of solar panels he is using, what is the AH rating of batteries brand etc. and how much power is it actually producing as compared to the rated output.

I came across the same company during my research for solar power setup. Having seen this setup from the same company helps gain trust in their work. I am looking towards a 1000 watt power system good enough for all the home essentials. I will approach them to see if I could get that in acceptable budget.

1- Normal quality Mono Panels are 90 - 100 rs per watt. Good quality Panels from Sharp, Hitachi, Konica, etc are 120 - 140 Rs per watt 2- You cant create hybrid system without the involvement of micro controller. Its better to buy an Axpert series 1KW or 2KW inverter. 1KW = 30,000 and 2KW = 40,000 3- Just add panels and a charge controller in you existing system. Wiring and fitting can be a DIY for saving some money. You need 40 Amps charge controller and its price is 10,000.
