Its totally a wrong information, kindly correct your info. it takes about only 1.5 years to completely install and run a 50MW wind power plant (for pre designing stages add 6 more months prior to project start), Im telling you this coz im in this field. and these two years include ordering,receiving, installation and commissioning of all towers, hub, blades, turbines and all other related equipment. And a wind plant takes relatively a short time for installation and requires less operation and maint. cost.

And about falling a tower and killing a few, please note that design of mobile towers and design of their base is done by local thekaydaars like people, while when you will be doing an investment of about 100 million dollars on a 50MW wind power plant, do you think that it would be having such a failure design?? it can sustain of winds of more than 100kmph for certain time(dont remember the exact kmph figure). and this speed is v rare even in high wind season in windy area or our country.

true...what takes time is the pre-feasibility reports etc....They need to check the wind data before putting money in it. Otherwise, importing is relatively simple. Installation is bolt on...no rocket science. Even 1.5 yrs is a long time...probably due to legal issues etc...

$100m for 50MW is quite expensive. you get 50MW capacity on solar for ~$30-40m for PV cells...though wind runs 24/7 vs solar 6-8/5-7

I would recommend SOLAR ENERGY POWER Co. https://www.facebook.com/Solarenergypowerco. I have my system installed in may 2013 by them 2KVA Off-grid System, Owner is a decent guy with vast knowledge of solar energy, Honest and friendly customer service, Rates are quite competitive but the best thing is customer service, they resolve the issue very fast, like i have some problem in my main line which i thought was in the solar sytem, i called them in evening and the technician was at my place in 2 hours, he checked the whole system and told me that the fault was in main line by wapda which was resolved by line man later. the best part is they charged me nothing. So i suggest to go for it... Hall road are thugs they sale under rated panel, Nizam solar is a rude fish of the market, worst customer service.. other companies which i checked hesitate to give you details of the system they are selling.

i have 200 Watt solar Panel solar fabrik German, 37.11V and 5.69A i have installed 6*200 watt panel,connected in series to MPPT controller, ... Generating around 1400 Watts in peak sunshine, The MPPT controller increases the efficiency of solar PV
I run my load directly through off-grid inverter in day time, without using wapda bypassing the batteries and meanwhile charging batteries for night backup.

Desi 800watt UPS- Works perfectly except that battery terminals need a bit of cleaning. UPS turns off and on during Earth Hour aka Load Shedding Never burned anything except for Laptop Charger, solution- Bigger capacitor installed inside charger.
Appliances used on UPS- 1 ceiling fan, 1 lightbulb, 1 laptop, 1 LED tv. Backup on fan alone- more than 4-5 hours.

Generator;
Angel 6500 Chinese Generator which gives approx. 5kva of power on Natural Gas.
Works flawlessly, just need a tune up and new oil + air filter. Runs: 1.5Ton Gree AC, 1 Dawlance fridge, 1 Water pump and fans and stuff.

Now, is it worth using AC on Wapda or on Generator? which is the cheapest? My generator is awesome, ran 860 hours w/o any problems except for Tappet clearance and new spark plug.

That's something I would need to figure out this summer. Any tips?
I thought that I should write down the reading of the Gas Meter, turn on generator with only AC and Fridge as load for an hour, then write down the reading= Compare.

Nice topic, but a part from suggesting only solutions. We must also discuss this in broader spectrum to.

One thing that interests me is Geothermal energy, We must not emphasize only on Active sources of energy. Passive solutions should also be considered as they greatly reduces the need of active power.

1. Geothermal energy is a good passive energy, and its being practised in iceland. With almost 87% of houses in iceland get warm water from geothermal energy

2. Designing building in a way that it reflects sunlight as more sunlight only account for more than 70% of warmth you feel in houses. Providing tree shades to your already built houses will also help in reduction of electricity bills due to ac.

yes, that would work. just make sure there's no other gas appliances running like geyser etc...

5 year warranty.Inverter is hybrid and automatic.its switches automatically to wapda when sun went down.there are many options to configure it they way you want

and my pannels provide near 32 V when sun is at top.that mean they even give more than 250Watt (watt=volts x amperes ,, 32 x 8.3 = 265 Watts per pannel x 4 =1064 watts total.is't that amazing?
usually panels give slightly less than the ratings.
Kindly others who have installed it do share the pv rating in menu of their systems.

brother I'm sorry, but you got ripped off. He charged you over rs100/watt. That is too much. Panel prices are around ~rs60/watt. There is no difference in quality as long as there's international certifications on it. When you got 1064watts, the sun was providing more than 1000w/m2 , that is how you got all that watts. Every other panel would do the exact same thing. The solar-irradiation to volts graph is linear. So the more the sun shines, the more power you get from panel. Some of these panel sellers(including this solar city guy, I talked to him once) claim their panel will give full power even in the evening or on a cloudy day, which is total non-sense, don't believe in it.

They claim that a mono-crystalline panel is somehow better for you cuz it's more efficient. Again more non-sense. A mono panel is for you if you have a lack of space on the roof. That's it. Otherwise, both, poly and mono would give the rated output on test conditions (1000w/m2). Mono panel is efficient in the sense that you need a smaller and lighter panel for the same output compared to a poly panel. This is good if you have maybe a satellite or you want to put it on a plane or something...Else, for homes, poly-crystalline panels are good enough cuz you always have alot of space and they are much much cheaper...

Also, most panels have a 10yr 80% or 90% warranty. How come you got only half as much ?

The sun gives app. 4-6kw-hr per day per meter square in lahore on sunny days. So you can't really compare two different panel figures from different days. Check both on the same day, same area. Then you know if one is better than the other.

All chinies UPS fails, in 1 hours interval load shedding............. All these inverters have high frequency charging system, which sheds the leads plates quickly, Such kind of high freqency charging is best for GEL batteries............

yup i got no space issue,so i think polycrystalline would heve been cheaper solution.another thing to ask,can mono and poly be used togather if MPPt is used? or i am stuck with expensive mono ones foreever
