NET METERING ABOLISHED - for new users and at end of contract for earlier users.
The revised solar policy explained by one of our contributors: Many people are confused about solar net metering policy change.
Let me explain what happened.
On-Grid solar system has been indirectly restricted by the govt new policy.
The govt has announced that 1:1 unit ratio is no more and they will buy ALL the units you generate for 10rs and there will be 18% sales tax which means you will receive 8.2 rupees per unit. Now if you buy a 20KW solar for 17 lac. It will generate maximum 2800 units at its best. Government will buy 2800 units for 28000rs. After deduction of 18% GST it will be 22960rs.
Your consumption is lets say 1500units having 50% off peak & 50% on peak usage your bill would be around 150000. 22960rs will get minus from 150000 and you have to pay 127,040. My bill was around 150000 I was thinking to install solar to make it 0 but as per new policy i will get a relief of only 22960rs on 17 lac investment.
I will still have to pay 127,000rs. But guess what?
If i buy a 7kw off grid solar for 6 LAC then during the day since i am off grid my unit ratio will be 1:1 i will get free electricity during the day and for night my consumption is around 550 units so the bill will be reduced to around 70000rs on an investment of 6 lac rupees only.
All these people saying the current users will be get effected by this policy, well they will have to go off grid too after their agreement ends.
