My brother bought an AC recently, originally he had planned to get a 1 ton inverter, but changed his mind due to the dealer's feedback. One of the dealer's customers bought several 1.5 ton Haier inverter ACs to install in his newly built home. The customer had to replace most of those ACs with regular ones because the cooling was insufficient. Now I really don't trust dealers, because they lie mostly and try to sell you the product on which they get maximum margin. But I also don't trust re-badged ACs sold in Pakistan as PEL, Super Asia, Orient etc, I put Haier in this list as well. The reason is that these companies overstate cooling capacity of their units. What is sold as an 18,000 btu AC might actually put out only 16000 btu. So don't get tempted by the AMP rating, the real question is how much btus of cooling are you getting for every watt spent. A Mitsubishi AC might consume same amount of power that a Haier does but the key difference lies in the cooling capacity. I have a Mitsubishi, Dawlance, Samsung, Sabro, Haier installed in my home. All 18000 btu, But Mitsubishi outperforms every other.
All foreign made ACs will have an EER rating, unfortunately none of the Chinese imports have an EER rating. If I were to buy an Inverter ac, I would choose a brand based on EER rating instead of AMP rating. ACs that are sold in EU or US will have have an EER rating. You can trust the numbers on such ACs. As for the rest, it's just a sticker made up by the manufacturer's marketing department.
