I'll try to explain the problem in most simplistic way :

Problem

-- Batteries are supposed to be recharged at slower charging rate like 10a/h meaning a battery of 100 AH should ideally be charged in 10hrs. This method is called "slow or trickle charging".

-- Now the charging system in UPS is designed to fully charge a battery in 3-4 hrs as the requirement asks for it. Now you are charging at a higher rate, resulting in over-heating of battery this consequently effects the specific gravity of acid used and slowly damages the plates of battery (don't ask how just believe it).

-- Overall a battery used for UPS has shortened life and requires a slow charge cycle every now and then.

Solution

-- There is no solution for reduced battery life when used with UPS, we all are facing it. If the solution lies in use of dry batteries or something like that then I'm not aware of that.

-- For your present problem take your battery to a battery shop get its specific gravity checked and adjusted ( i think it is 1240 in summers). get your battery charged at the shop, it might take a day. And get the cells checked for boiling like symptoms. If 2 or more cells in a 6 cell battery are boiling then it needs replacement

Very 1st you should understand about battery's type..
1) Starter Batteries (Automotive)
These types of battery will Quick charge and Quick Discharge with small life for inventors or UPS. But are best when electricity coming for 1 hr and going for 2 hrs..
2) Dry Deep Cycle Batteries.
These types of batteries are for long backup and long life with Long time charging by low amperage for long backup, so these batteries are failing according to here load-shading. If we will increase charging amperes then these batteries will be swell and over heat.
3) Tubular Plate Battery.
These batteries are type of Deep Cycle. But difference is Quick Charge in minimum time for long backup with long life.
So Tubular Plate Batteries are best for UPS and Invertors and set for load-shading timing in PAK. Also perfect set for Solar Sys..

I have installed 4 X 150 Ah tubular Batteries with 3000 RM XLI dip based APC UPS.

48 X 150 = 7200 watts at 48V DC.

There is no such thing as pure sinewave it is just a marketing term
only two kinds ups available sinewave and modified sinewave

well apc is an american technology ups ........ sinewave is a technical term ........... ur local made and all pak cheen dosti ups like homage twister etc etc r MODIFIED SINEWAVE ......... which r not got for ur tv fridge room cooler gamin console or any other expensive appliances ....... u can run only ur fans ( with humming sounds ) and lights with it without any fear but again these MODIFIED SINEWAVE ups makes ur fan's capacitor life miserable and after sumtime times ur fans speed go slow .......... on other hand SINEWAVE UPS are good in term ov quality ..............u can use any electronic devices with it .......... APC UPS are SINEWAVE whose output is fixed i.e 220 volts means ur fans are always runnin is same speed throughout the time when there is not light ...... it has automatic charger ...... it never deep discharges ur batteries ........ builtin transformer and stabilizer ............. no hummin sound from fans .......

I believe tubular battery is a nice advancement but they still arent an alternative to batteries used for Solar Power Solutions. It still lacks smart carbon to counter PSOD. Also there isnt any literature available online, what are the maximum cycles at 50% DOD?

Well apc comes in kva n thn like 3 kva makes 2700 watts n thn 5 kva makes 3750 watts ... both works with 12v x 4 batteries .... 3 kva is @ 30k while 5 kva is very much xpensive ... its like 95k ... prices r of used ups n with one year warranty .... software plus hardware. ...
