Hi Guyz i am interested in installing solar panels but not with batteries, i heard that we can get power at day time without storing it in batteries as batteries will cost too much and the price will be higher than grid station. So please enlighten me with your suggestions. i am willing to spend 1 lac on panels another thing is it possible that 1 panel charges my battery (which is being charged by UPS now). and remaining to light the house ?

For your 1st question: Yes its doable but you will need a pure solar inverter,like Infini etc and will have to use in Grid tie mode.
For your 2nd question:Yes its also possible to charge a battery with a pannel,you will just need a seperate solar charge controller.

I have a question of my own.its a crazy one but i am gonna do it anyway.so suggestions are needed.
i intend on using hybrid car batteries with my inverter.those are Nickel metal hydride @ 144 volts DC. i will re-wire them to bring down volts to 24 VDC and increase the amps. but i read these are temperature sensitive.and i intend to install inverted at 2nd floor and in summer temp there is near 50'C.so any further suggestions?has anyone done it?

The infini is cheapest amoung pure solar inverters and its near RS.105000 to 120000. Depending upon pannels.mono or poly etc but minimum is like 75 per watt.so multiply that with volts and u will get ur price. good solar charge controller cost like 15000-25000.
and depending on how many watt pannels you attach with it will determine the chargin time of ur 175 amp battery plus the weather etc.on cloudy day it will be less etc

I said just the inverter f your demand will cause 120k.pannels will be seperate.how much load do u want to run? how many fans etc etc
about battery charging time:its lead acid battery 175 amps.right? so we assume actual amps are near 150 or even low.now this wont discharge completely,usually UPS trips low battery alram and shuts down when 70% battery is consumed,i.e near 10.5 volts.
So we take 70% of 150 amps = 105 amps. so we need 105 total amps to charge your battery.
You want to charge it in 2-3 hrs.so divide 105/2=51.5 amps per hour.so you will need pannels which provide current at this rate.
good efficeincy pannels 240-250 watt provides near 7-8 amps.(DC).so 51/7=7.28. so you need 7 pannels of 240 watt atleast to acharge this battery in 2 hrs.240x7=1680 watts.if rate is Rs:75 per watt. 1680x75=126000.
plus charge controller price of 20,000.
so total setup for battery is near RS:146000.
Inverter=120000
plus the pannels you intend to run load directly.lets assume you want to runs 1000 watt max load. 1000x75=1000.but do note that efficiemcy is not 100%.so you will need neat 1400watt pannels to run this load directly.so price 100500.
so your total=146000+120000+100500=366500.
he he solar aint cheap man.

For your first question you can do that and for that you dont need to buy 120k grid tied solar charger...

Implement 12v system separately and this can happen v cheaply.... Get 12v pedestal fans(usually these fans are jugaad) and 12v led bulbs a solar charger with display 30-40amperes(3000rs approx) , some solar panels and hook up some old batteries with your system. Old batteries may/may not give you back which you dont need either but it will power the solar charger....

I have implemented this system at my home... A jugaado fan 12v pedestal costs around 1700rs... Bought these from Aram Bagh....get around 2-3 ampere fans...

I just read a few posts in this forum. I always wonder, why do we have to go for a SO CALLED JOGAAR thing. We should be thankful that solar power is powering our appliances for day time. There is only night time to take care now. People talking about re-wiring your home with a 12V changing appliances, fans, lights to 12V. Why?

I had a Prius car back in 2012. Someone asked if a CNG can be fit into this car. Few months back I saw a cylinder fitted into Prius. I wonder why are we so crazy about CNG? Prius already gives you double fuel average of a 1.8 Altis.

Its not a jogaar thing.... These 12v systems are implemented all over the world. Even ppl implement 24v and 48v systems just for your information. And the answer to your question why people are suggesting 12v systems is because of Commerce!!!

Implementing 12v system is a lot cheaper than 220v inverter system....

If you visit cooperative market in karachi, you'll see 12v dc fans are available for very cheap prices. 12v systems are indeed a blessing for middle class ppl atleast.
