The luxurious A6 sedan for the Indian market is now locally assembled at Aurangabad in Maharashtra, and is available to order at the exclusive Audi dealerships in Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
The first A6 models will be delivered to customers in December 2007.
The Audi A6 is the most successful C-segment model globally, and is aiming at a dominant leadership position in India through outstanding driving dynamics and high technology, superior comfort and a wide range of high-grade equipment now exclusively assembled in India.
The locally produced Audi A6 comes with a choice of two new powerful engines: the 2.8 FSI V6 and the 2.7 TDI V6. In addition to FSI direct injection, the 2.8 FSI V6 engine incorporates a fundamental innovation in the form of the Audi valve lift system, which enables variable control of the valve lift, translating into a significant fuel saving at partial throttle.
To power the vehicle, four direct-injection engines are available, two petrol and two diesel.
These are the 3.2 FSI developing 188 kW (255 bhp), the 2.8 FSI (154 kW/210 bhp), and the diesel V6 TDI units with displacements of 2.7 (132kW / 180 bhp), and the latest version of the incredibly powerful 3.0, developing 171 kW (233 bhp). Each of these engines have a level of superior output and torque in their respective segment.
Power is transmitted by two different, sophisticated technologies - a six-speed tiptronic and the continuously variable multitronic transmission.
Quattro permanent four-wheel drive distributes power to all four wheels as standard in the 3.2 FSI and the 3.0 TDI.
The optional exclusive equipment features for the Audi A6 are now combined together into a most attractively priced comfort package, and enhance Audi''''s bestseller with high-end technical features like adaptive air suspension, a BOSE sound system, an optical parking system, mobile phone preparation, a remote controlled multimedia interface from the rear seats, front seats with memory function, an automatically operated boot lid, and a sporty steering wheel for the smaller engines (2.8 FSI and 2.7 TDI).
With the commencement of local production, prices for the entire Audi A6 range will see a reduction. Customer price advantages range between Rs140,000 to Rs210,000, depending on the engine configuration.
Prices for the Audi A6 start from Rs3,890,000 to Rs4,500,000 ex-showroom Mumbai, including value added tax (VAT).
Prices for the Audi A6 comfort package will be Rs250,000, which saves the customer almost 50 per cent when compared to the prices for the individual equipment items. The comfort package is available for any version in the A6 range.
The Audi A6 for the Indian market will be assembled in Aurangabad, in an exclusive Audi production line in the Group factory, which also assembles Skoda cars, and VW''''s Passat. Assembly conforms to Audi quality standards and is done by Audi trained workers. Parts sets manufactured in Germany are assembled as CKD production, which sees the car imported as a completely knocked down kit, and assembled locally.
