Let's see what happens in pakistan, I have high expectations.

They may not be able to capture market in 2025 in Pakistan. I have high expectations after 2026 because in 2026, they will start local assembling. Other than CKDs, more smaller vehicles will be launched once the CKD starts. BYD have big range from Suzuki sized vehicles to big Haval, Fortuner size SUVs.

Defo do that, funny thing is one of our old clients has all three cars (BYD) .. It went something like this, I randomly received a call from him -- he was asking sealion-6 mats ... I said " sir abhi tak ghari launch nhi hoi " .. He said " sir ji garage mein all 3 variants kharay hain" Lol, he asked me to send him grass mats ( rolls ) ~ they will cut it according to its size .. Anyway, I tried asking him about the price but he said nothing 🫠.

MG Windsor EV launched in India today at INR 9.99 lacs to 14.99 lacs !

At purchase price of INR 9.99 lacs battery rental fees will apply at the rate of INR 3.50 per km. A mimimum of 1500 km fee will be charged per month at this rate. The MG Windsor is a reincarnation of the Wuling Cloud car.

Interesting. Looks like someone with good links in Mega Motors (BYD's local partner).
It means people know the brand value of BYD in Pakistan and they are willing to buy it.

Even before their launch event in Lahore, the cars were not only on the street, but even had been taken to a "local" workshop here in Lahore likely because Mega Motors doesn't have any facility of their own yet.

A friend was at his old mechanic to get his car repaired and sent me a picture asking what car it is. He's not an enthusiast so he doesn't know and there was no marketing at the time. Someone had managed to completely break the glass roof and it was there for several weeks until they brought in the roof from oversees to be replaced.

I guess the good thing is that it wasn't there on his 3rd trip and the workshop owner told him that they were able to replace it successfully, meaning that at least our local mechanics should be able to deal with any issues these cars might have (as long as the parts are available).

Roadside mechanics?!? Yea, they will be able to "deal" with the issues & create more issues ~ cuz ustaad ji. Usually, it goes something like this "ustaad ji tusi kamal kar dita hai" wah wah. 2 days later, car destroyed . Puri gari maiyat ban ke nikalti hai. I have good history with those montgomery road mechanics, aaxxxpeert. Well, that was my experience with them uzair bhai.

I was very interested in buying one but I guess a clean piece on self import will cost 55 - 60 lakhs easy. With BYD around the corner with potential local production in 2026, I've held back on purchasing a used / grey import car.

I'm just very anxious regarding the EV drivetrain, if something goes wrong with the battery or motor, the local quacks will certainly not be able to fix it and one will be left with a very expensive non functional vehicle.

Local support I feel is essential - but if you're very motivated to import you can consider the sakura or leaf (both have air cooled batteries).

Most jdm imports are mayyats anyway, jo thori kasar mojood hotee hai woh hamaray desi qassai poori kar daitay hein

Our local "techs" have been able to replace individual cells in batteries for quite a few years now. They don't last as long as original batteries, but also cost 1/4 or sometimes even lower.

1. A 15KW solar system
2. An electric JDM ( Sakura or EK X EV) for city use
3. A plugin Hybrid (Sea Lion 6) to replace my existing 7 seater, for longer routes

All charging at home.

Fantastic - I'd recommend checking out the Honri for city use. It does give Sakura vibes (excluding the build quality )

I agree with Akbar. Do take a look at Honri and test drive it.
It's local assembled. After sales won't be an issue.
