Honda Unveils the N-One e: Small EV, Big Impact

Built to meet Japan’s kei car regulations—stringent rules that define maximum size, engine output, and efficiency—the N-One e: is positioned as a city-focused electric vehicle with practical features and clever design. And with sales beginning in September in Japan, Honda is setting the stage for a broader showcase at the upcoming IAA Munich auto show, even though a U.S. release is off the table for now.

Though Honda hasn’t released full technical specifications, it’s widely assumed the N-One e: shares its electric drivetrain with the Honda N-Van e:. That platform promises a 152-mile (245 km) range and slow 50 kW DC fast charging—but a full charge is achieved in around 30 minutes due to the car’s small battery. With its smaller size and reduced weight, the N-One e: may even surpass that range slightly.

Atlas Honda has finally stepped into the EV scooter market. Yes, the company has introduced the “ICON e:”, an all-electric EV scooter, priced at Rs. 419,900. And because it’s Honda, its pricing is considerably higher than that of other Chinese EV scooters available in Pakistan. Regarding the specifications, Atlas Honda has yet to release detailed information for the local variant. However, after doing some research, we came to know that the ICON e: has already been introduced in Indonesia in October 2024, where it is available with the following features and specifications, most of which are expected to remain consistent for the Pakistani model:

Evee Electric To Bring ‘Gen-Z Pro’ With Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Soon

Here’s an update for those interested in electric scooters: Evee Electric is preparing to introduce a new variant in its GEN-Z lineup. This model, named the ‘Pro’ version, includes a notable change in battery technology.

The GEN-Z Pro will feature a ‘Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) battery’.

Currently, many electric scooters available in Pakistan have utilized batteries often labeled as “graphene.” However, commercially viable graphene batteries are not widely available globally. What has been marketed as such often functions similarly to lead-acid batteries.

A characteristic of these “graphene” labeled batteries has been extended charging times, frequently ranging from 6 to 7 hours. With the GEN-Z Pro’s Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, this charging duration is reduced to approximately 3-4 hours.

It’s important to know that the electric scooter market in Pakistan currently features a mix of battery types. Beyond the “graphene” claims, you’ll find actual Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, as well as NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) batteries (like those offered by Horwin in some models) and even Lithium Ion batteries (seen in Okla’s scooters).

Punjab Govt Offers Rs1 Lac Reward for Converting Petrol Bikes into EVs

In a move to curb environmental pollution, the Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday unveiled that motorcyclists who are willing to convert their petrol bikes into electric vehicles would be awarded a cash incentive of Rs. 100,000 ( 1 Lac) under the Punjab government’s Green Credit Program.

The Green Credit Program enables citizens to receive monetary incentives in the form of green credits for activities related to the mitigation of carbon emissions.

For the tree plantation campaign and other activities, citizens can register and apply through the official website of the Green Credit Program, where they can involve themselves as well as their children, not only to have a clean living space but also to earn cash reward prizes.

NexGen Auto Pvt., a unit of Pakistan’s Nishat Group owned by business magnate Mian Mohammad Mansha, is setting up a factory to build electric-powered vehicles in partnership with Chery Automobile Co., a Chinese automobile manufacturer, reported _Bloomberg on Friday._

According to the report, NexGen Auto Pvt is set to debut five cars simultaneously under Chery’s Omoda and Jaecoo brands at a launch event on Friday, Muhammad Aqib Zulfiqar, the group’s Chief Financial Officer, told Bloomberg in an interview.

Zulfiqar said the conglomerate has earmarked about $100 million for the automotive manufacturing and marketing operations, with local car assembly set to start in October.

Calling the move a “no-brainer,” Zulfiqar told Bloomberg that Nishat Group grabbed the opportunity to work with Chery after company officials visited China and met with several car manufacturers.

“In this category, China is much ahead of all other manufacturing hubs in the world when it comes to advancements and cost,” he said.

The CFO added that the Nishat conglomerate is keen to expand in the automobile sector and wants authorities in Islamabad to speed up the implementation of policies aimed at EV adoption.

“The new model that we have seen is new energy vehicles,” he said. “Leaving it open and letting competition run free was not wise.”

Not quite. A PHEV can run on the engine. A range extender like this would use the engine only as a charger. Imagine a Nissan Note/Kicks

EREVs are different from typical PHEV, and typically are a much better option as well.

In an EREV, the engine only acts as a Range Extender and is not connected to the wheels, so it can always run in it's optimal and most efficient RPM range while charging the batteries. This means you can get away with a much smaller and quieter engine.

EREVs also typically have much larger batteries and more powerful motors than regular PHEVs, so their EV only range (without needing the Range Extender to kick in) is much larger and the motors can hit top speeds.

In easy words, EREV is an EV with a generator to charge the battery only. It doesn't power the wheels. Hence, you will see huge range numbers quoted. The range is calculated based on full battery charge + full fuel tank.

BTW, this Forthing is a Dongfeng product. Dongfeng is a different company from DFSK. Usually people think they are the same. Box EV is also a Dongfeng product. Dongfeng Box launched by Chawla Green

Are you sure the engine doesn't power the wheels at all? It's a 200bhp 1.5L turbo charged engine. They need that engine just to charge the battery?

100% confirm.
In EREV, the engine works as a generator to charge the battery only. It doesn't power the wheels. The power train works exactly like any pure EV where the electric motor turn the wheels.

Range extender

It's an interesting concept and useful who travel on long where charging stations are not present but what to enjoy the performance of EVs

Looking at its specs. 200bhp and 340nm torque and 1100km of range. You then have a Haval H6 PHEV with the same range but 300+ bhp and 700+nm torque.

This needs to be priced at 1cr max for it to have any value proposition.
