Hi my name is Ibrahim Fahad and i am a student in year 10 from Australia conducting a Study/Research on the Uptake of Electric Vehicles Internationally and one of my focus groups is Pakistan. I would feel really obliged if Individuals on this Pakwheels forum could fill out a short 10-15 minute form which would really help me head my Research into a further direction by getting opinions from the general Pakistani population.
My research Question:
To what extent can the successful uptake of electric vehicles in Norway and Iceland be replicated internationally? A comparative analysis of the government policies and social-cultural forces influencing electric vehicle uptake in Norway and Iceland versus Australia and Pakistan during 2017-2021.

THE START TO MY RESEARCH:
Research Question: To what extent can the successful uptake of electric vehicles in Norway and Iceland be replicated internationally? A comparative analysis of the government policies and social-cultural forces influencing electric vehicle uptake in Norway and Iceland versus Australia and Pakistan during 2017-2021.
The aim of the study is to explore how the growth of Electric Vehicles (EV’s) in Norway and Iceland be replicated internationally by comparing Australia and Pakistan through the analysis of policies posed by the governments on EV’s and the social-cultural factors influencing the growth of EV’s from 2017 to 2021.
Throughout the study, the Term “Electric Vehicles” is used to define Battery Electric Vehicle’s (BEV’s), vehicles free from an internal combustion engine (ICE), running entirely on a Battery operated Electric Motor (Naseem,Uddin,Rashid&Chishti,2019 ). The study does not include Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV’s) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric vehicles (PHEV’s) because an (ICE) is still used in (HEV’s) and (PHEV’s) (Corby, 2021). The Term, “Government policies”, in the study refers to the policies that Governments release which are directed towards (EV’s) and their owners. The term “Social-Cultural forces” refers to large-scale forces within cultures and societies that affect the thoughts, feelings and behaviours of individuals (Sierzchula,Bakker,Maat&Wee,2014)
The scope of the research focuses on the uptake of (EV’s) from the year 2017 till 2021. The Uptake of EV’s was mainly chosen to explore factors contributing to the disparate uptake of EV’s globally (Hodge,O’Neill,Coney,2020). The year 2017 was selected as the starting point because that is when the EV revolution started taking place (Shahan, 2017) with the introduction of the Tesla Model 3 in 2017, which would become the best-selling EV of all time . (Pontes,2022)
[SUB QUESTIONS]
What factors contributed to the Successful uptake of EV’s in Norway and Iceland?
How do Government Policies contribute to the uptake of EV’s?
How do social-cultural factors influence the uptake of EV’s?
How have EV’s been perceived In Australia and Pakistan through the EV’s uptake?
Previous research explores, EV policies in Pakistan involving the effectivity of EV Policies and how EV policies of Pakistan effect Pakistan. The research compares six EV markets, concluding eight factors determining the impact of EV policy in Pakistan . The study illustrated it’s target audience being “Policymakers throughout the world”, building upon other nations policies. (Hodge,O'Neill&Coney,2020). Moreover , a research study conducted portrays the “Factors affecting EV uptake in Australia”. The Study informs “policymakers, car-manufacturers, the energy sector and scholars ” of the factors contributing to sales of EV’s. The study concluded many factors that contribute towards uptake of EV’s including the purchaser’s “income” linking towards the social-cultural factors influencing uptake . (Foley,Degirmenci&Yigitcanlar,2020)
The study being conducted I s designed to fill up lacking knowledge in current studies about the disproportionate uptake of EV’s internationally, exploring the factors that Government policies and social-cultural factors present to help researchers to determine how the uptake of EV’s can be influenced. The study is trying to combine both Social-cultural factors with Government policies while comparing the uptake of EV’s internationally in which past research has been lacklustre, (Xue,Zhou,Wu&Xu,2021) as limited researches have compared the disproportionate EV uptake while also combining constitution with humanoid factors. Future researchers who study my research would we able to identify how the uptake of EV’s can be affected and how it’s influenced in multiple countries.
The research explores the academic disciplines of sociology, law, engineering, economics and finance. The research will be conducted using a mixed method approach, conducting both Qualitative and Quantitative data collection methods. This method will give an opportunity to collect Human-based data on-top of Numerical data. (Shorten&Smith,2017)
The research design that the study being conducted would explore is through a range of methods to ensure that accurate and non-bias samples come through. (Shorten&Smith,2017) The data would be collected through interviews and surveys conducted online to reach people in other countries.
Observational data within the study will be conducted through interviews. The interviews conducted will be limited to academics and experts while surveys would be used to regard individuals with general knowledge about the topic. The interviews will be conducted with individuals like Mr Suneel Munj who is the co-founder of Pakistan’s #1 Automobile website (Tahir,2022) as well as Kenan Degirmenci, a lecturer at the University of Queensland in the faculty of science and economics. The quantitative data will be collected through surveys while achieving data in numerical form through individuals personal experiences . Using both Qualitative and Qualitative research approaches may intricate the conclusions; however, these constraints may be avoided by organising data efficiently (Creswell, 2002).
The practical considerations that the study would be tested through ensures a process that does not affect the study in the form of bias or inaccuracy thus stratified sampling will be used (Hayes,2021) to stratify the population up into the skill level that they acquire about the topic and weather they are linked to an organisation or a government agency. The population sample would consist of 60 or more participants divided up into Strata’s . Standardised questions will be used throughout every strata and no leading questions will be used, though all questions will be defined thoroughly.
A de-briefing session will be held after every research method that uses participants in order to tell them what they have participated in. There will be no deception used in order to achieve results , Participants will not experience any negative affects or consequences nor would participants be forced to participate. The guidelines put forward by the “National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007)” will be followed at all times while collecting data. The participants will also have full withdrawal rights at any time while the study is taking place (NHMRC,2018 ).
A mentor is not chosen yet for the study being conducted.
