My sentiments on pollution are the same as yours. But I wish it were that simple.

China has the largest sales volume of EV in the world but it also is responsible for the highest greenhouse gas emissions globally. The electricity that charges EV is coming mainly from coal in China. It means that pollution is not just about automobile sector, it has to be handled with a holistic approach.

The energy sector is causing most of the harmful emissions. This sector includes construction, manufacturing, transportation, and electricity generation. So all of the energy sector requires attention at the national policy level, not just with promoting the use of EV.

Coal has to go. Eu is saying goodbye to coal for good, and it's falling in US as well. I'm sure China will eventually end its difficult relationship with coal. However, it is geniuses like us who have suddenly decided to become dependent on coal in 2020, on imported coal no less!

Trump can worship coal all he wants, but the reality is: coal use is declining fast in U.S. and will continue its downward trajectory.

People are going to adopt EVs for a bunch of different reasons apart form just the environmental benefits (although that in itself is a big enough reason for governments all over the world to incentivise them).

Some people will buy them for the impressive performance (i mean come on EVs have literally been humiliating traditional sports cars) or all the tech features such as autonomous driving etc. Others will be convinced by the fuel savings they offer or the low maintenance costs. The list goes on.

In Pakistan currently EVs are a good prospect because of the low duties/taxes. I just posted the various listings for used LX570s above. In the US they should cost the same as a Audi E-Tron (or even less). In Pakistan they cost 3-4 times as much as an E-Tron!

In developing countries, apart from the energy sector deforestation and agriculture are also significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions (methane and nitrous oxide) like in Pakistan. So, I firmly believe that a holistic approach at national policy level is needed to reduce pollution. If someone still thinks that e - tron or Hummer is the only answer, then what can I say?

But if someone wants to only 'humiliate' traditional sports cars, then I agree EV is the solution.

Islamabad to Swat / Peshawar / Faisalabad / Jhang / Sialkot how many charging stations along?
15-17 million vehicle with 250 km range. means for intercity road commuting need to buy another car. is it not a joke sirs ??

I doubt that. I think most people are buying because its good value for money. Even Audi’s own smaller and cheaper q5 costs much more in Pakistan.

But even if they are buying out of pollution concerns, how is that a bad thing?

In Pakistan the dynamics are totally different. Here people cant even buy their first car and even some people use 660cc cars for long journeys which are made for city driving. How can these people afford two cars EV and fuel operated. When you cant even travel from LHR to ISL on 16 million car then why middle class will buy EV?

Another full electric vehicle MG ZS-EV is launched. Booking already started. The introductory price is 6.5 million only (ex factory price) which is quite cheeper than other EVs available like Audi & BMW. Its a SUV with Panoramic Sunroof. Initial imported units (CBU) would be available in the end of this year. Local assembly plant is expected to produce in March 2021.

There are currently 2 very impactful limitations to EV:

1- Battery energy density (global)
2- Sources of energy to charge it (regional)

To make it viable in our region even with same battery density, we need to have solar panels with area efficiency near maybe 50% because other sources are not going to cut it. Perhaps after 10-20 years we might have a breakthrough in battery energy density and solar cell efficiency. But then we will also have better thermal efficiency low emission ICE in mass production

everyone here is euphoric that EVs will become common and norm next month in Pakistan. I simply posted a normal day happening for a normal usual person who owns "ONE" car - not the elite class who own several vehicles amounting to 10s of millions in total.

By your statement - they are exclusive for rich people.
