I watched this documentary about a lioness who adopted a calf (oryx) on Animal Planet. It was such a fantastic story that I couldn't resist sharing it here.
The story is about a lioness who adopted a calf. Calf had lost her mother. Both the lioness and calf stayed together for 15 days. Calf was starving as she was less-than-a-month old calf surviving without her mother's milk. Lioness, on the other hand, had also not eaten anything during those 15 days yet they both stayed together. Eventually a male lion came to that area, found that calf and killed it.
Documentary told that this lioness, kaumnyak, adopted 5 more calves during next year out of which 2 died of hunger, 2 left her and 1 found her mother.
Amazing, isn't it?
