Insha'Allah I will be travelling be travelling from KHI to ISL this ramazan (last week maybe). I have created this thread so that all Pakwheelers can share their views, experiences and tips regarding on how to deal with the notorious sindhi police.
Last year when I was travelling, with my family, I was stopped by the police (the black and brown uniform one) outside outside KHI near naseerabad. I had all the documents with me, driving license , car registration book, NIC, insurance papers, tax papers and the highway book code.
My First Mistake
I was first asked if I could speak sindhi, I replied negative
My second Mistake
He asked for all the above papers, I first handed him the colored photocopy of my license, car book which he refused, he insisted for the original papers. I handed to him EVERY THING
he had in his hands every document I carried with myself. After going through all the papers he said:
Police: "Saein aik masla hai"
me: "Whats the problem?"
Police: "you dont have NOC to take car outside KHI"
With that he walked away from the car to his police mobile van, where 4,5 other policemen were present. I got off from the car, I smelled trouble and walked towards the mobile van.
In the meanwhile the police had just stopped another family in a white 2000 civic. They didnt have with them the highway book code,so the police man who was dealing with them took my highway book code and started black mailing them.
He said that we have stopped these people also , they have the code book, Y dont u have it? After the man in the white civic paid 500Rs, A photocopy of the code book was sold to him and off he went.
Anyway back to my story, all my documents were handed to a "sahab" sitting in the van with reading glasses on. He said that after going through my papers that 2000Rs may NOC buna detay hein.
I lost my temper and an exchange of words took place. I insisted that I am the owner of the car, I dont need an NOC , you only need it if a third person is driving or transporting my car. But he insisted on 2000Rs.
I than asked him
me: "Masla ehi hai na that I dont have NOC and I cant take car outside KHI?"
police: " exactly"
me: "Ok than, give me my papers , I am going back to KHI"
He was speechless, I took my papers and carried on with my journey
