@madhouse
your writing reminds one of mine, would like to share too
i was posted at gilgit back in 2008, gilgit being not a very big city have very limited lighting and all shops and all activites end by maghrib prayer, after an hour of maghrib you'll find only medical stores or few hotels open only, and it was my first experience to see stars sky in my sences, once my chachu called me in my early days there he asked howz gilgit and i told him that its a small city and shops close by maghirb and best of all you can see stars too here, and it was my saying chachu threw some wonderful words on NY sky where he resides permanently and said he would love to see stars once again, thats the city life we are going thru, and i dont think even isb or rwp is so much big cities, i beleive if we venture out even 20-30 kms our of city limits we'll be able to have nice view of sky too.
and yes night sky is someting to get lost into if you got a view of it with million stars, i remember to came out of my room in freezing temp of gilgit with late night coffee/tea mug into the lawn after winding up my studies round, night sky is just awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
