A Shopping Trip.
Today, we head off to Chungi No 26 (a.k.a. Tarnol) in search of some miscellaneous bric-a-brac for the Sleipnir. On the shopping list are some of the following items:-
1) A pickup tub. I was thinking, rather than go through the enormous hassle of fabricating one...why not pick up a ready made one from scrap? We've chopped and sliced and shaved the body...doing the same to the tub, should be easy.
2) Another gull-wing bonnet. Same rule applies. Rather than fabricating the bonnet extension, why not get another bonnet and simply slice it and graft it on, so that it meets our requirement?
3) Gear lever and pedals. Something contemporary; that will go with the overall period look.
4) Fuel tank. Looking for something that would fit into the rear tub nice and snug, and look somewhat period-correct, too.
5) A passenger's side seat. I love the metal driver's seat that we managed to get with the car originally. This needs to go onto the second-seater's side, too.
Any other stuff that catches our fancy.
In that way, this is a very 'liberating' build. Rather than having to tirelessly search for genuine articles, I find myself at complete liberty to choose stuff that I think will look visually appealing, and will add to the overall look of the vehicle. It also helps, that these items from junkyards are dirt-cheap, too.
Pictures on the progress later, Insha Allah.
