Amongst other bigger, more easily-visible things, we've been paying a great deal of attention to the little stuff, as well. The jumper rods have been beautifully mounted to the frame, and the rods themselves fit like a dream to the hubs. We finally settled on a (bilkul brand new) radiator from a Toyota Coaster, which is not only large and likely to fulfill any sorts of requirements that the 1UZ might throw its way, but also conforms to the Toyota-Hino-Isuzu-Lexus theme of the car. Twin electric fans will cool the beast. An oil cooler (fitted with an electric fan of its own), will cool the beast further.
A sneak preview of the meters and gauges, reveals that they're looking absolutely gorgeous. We're installing HIDs in a pair of beautiful bug-eyed lamps (from a Hino truck :)) which will fit inside the existing headlamp ainakein. The car will be push-to-start, and will have a remote engine-disable kill-switch mechanism, to ensure security.
Work on the tub and the gas tank has started. If Allah be willing, we should have it ready for loose-fit onto the rear, by next Sunday. In the meanwhile, body work will continue. I suspect that sometime in the start of next week, we'll dismount the body from the frame for a few days, during which we will finalise the frame reinforcements, the body work, and the engine bay fittings etc. Hopefully, two weeks from now, the car will get going to the electrician, where we'll get all the wiring, lighting, fuses, battery placement finalised. Concurrently, we'll also be mounting the fuel tank, add fuel lines, and brake lines...and work ourselves close to that most crucial phase of car development...TESTING.
Let's keep our fingers crossed. By the 1st week of June, Insha Allah...the eight-legged horse should be ready to stampede!
