Thinking of buying Liana (Suggestions/advise Requested)

I'm telling this to you from a first hand owner experience of a 1300 cc RXI Liana. The car is an absolute disaster, we bought one in May 2006 and kept it until 2012, not a single week went by without the car causing some kind of trouble, we tried everything, all dealerships across Sindh and South Punjab, other reputed mechanics such as Khan motors and Kalu in Hyderabad but it was impossible to make it work. But I believe the problem with Liana was its incompatibility with CNG. Even after the experience of owning such a ridiculous car, I'm inclined to buy a petrol only driven Vurv model and give it a try. Eminent was the top of the line model and it was also available in 2006 and I've heard that it ran decently due to a 1600cc engine unlike RXI. There are a few 2005-06 imported Liana cars available in the market and they run just fine on petrol and CNG. A consignment of Liana cars was imported by PakSuzuki in 2005 and they were readily available at showrooms against a minimal Premium.

That is why we are suggesting eminent one because of the engine. When the car came to the market it was different than other and not adopting CNG as fuel was one of it's problems. Otherwise the car was good.

Have you guys owned one? Any idea how much petrol average a Liana gives within city and on highway.

Thanks for your valuable input. I believe any car whether it's facing mechanical issues or technical could be fixed given that the doer knows his stuff. I still remember my mechanic (who's like a brother to me) asked me to pour 20W50 in my cultus because he felt that rings are causing oil to pass through but I went against it and poured what I was already using 10W40 and ALHAMDULILLAH I just came back after driving it 3800 KMs on that very same vehicle and the oil didn't reduced. So may be the guy your uncle was visiting was judging things the wrong way?

That's the case for any vehicle brother. People here judge reliability after testing a vehicle through abuse and if by chance it isn't broke after a rape it's successful in Pakistan. How expensive are the parts for Liana?

That is why I think going for an only petrol driven Liana could be a good choice. I am unsure about it's petrol average though. I don't use vehicle daily and most visits are short but I tend to do long tours twice a year. 1300CC aren't good you are saying?

Liana with a 1.3 is not good enough but the 1.5 one is good to drive. it is a little heavy on the petrol but when i compare it to my lancer it is rather ohk. My Maternal Uncle Still has the eminent version he bought it new and the car runs awesum.

I own a Baleno but my uncle too owned a Liana. The only thing I heard him complain about was it being underpowered. Rest, I haven't heard him complaining about it's reliability. And as @omersiddiqui5482 said, it's better to get the 1.6 version.

No idea about Liana, but I'll tell you about a Baleno. Depo headlights for Baleno cost 10K while for Corolla 2006, they cost about 6K. A Pakwheeler bought a pair of slightly used genuine headlights for his City Aspire and it costed him 6K while for Baleno, a guy was selling genuine used ones for 8.5K. This will give you an idea about Liana.
