Tips for Baleno

i have a question regarding tuning the SY416 1600cc engine in baleno...

there are three variable on the throttle body, 1-throttle plate screw 2-TPS and the screw on top of it (air bypass valve as far as i know it)

i have been trying to get is tuned to the best possible settings as i have myself already changed all three variables...

i have already tried to consult the senior technician at dealership with help of there diagnostic tool...but they cudnt help much although there was no error watsoever...and never have been in history...

the problem...which im facing is bad milage on petrol and un even acceleration which rightly points towards TPS adjustment...which indirectly requires throttle position screw and bypass valve adjustment...

i would appreciate if someone can help me out professionally in this regard....BTW im in lahore..and use it both on CNG n PETROL....there is no advancer in my car...only emulator...so even on CNG it runs through ECU...using NGK platinum spark plugs...with factory gap..BTW engine manual says the gap should be 1 to 1.1 mm... air intake is blocked...rest is totaly stocked...timing is advanced at 10 degrees which is factory setting to run on petrol...it has a distributor..plug wires are stock...everything else is stock...it has run 130k...engine is original...no smoke...no oil reduction etc...

First of all remove the air blockage then reset the gas setting.Get the tappet slightly loosed by .05mm w.r.t.specification for smooth acceleration on cng.

bro. its already damn smooth on CNG i need to adjust it to run effeciently on petrol.

Brother,that is why i am asking you to remove air blockage to run it efficiently on petrol.When you removed air blockage then you will have to reset it on cng,

bro..actualy im using the DESI ventury...not the original LANDI RANZO one with small gas gas esxape holes around it rim....so i have to open up gas too much to tune it without air blockage which ruins the mileage on CNG...that the reson i cant remove air blockage from air intake....

as far as my diagnosis is....the TPS need adjustment...it is not faulty...as i have checked it through SUZUKI OBD and also manualy using OHM meter...

while experimenting i have noticed that if i turn the TPS extreme to anti clockwise...and fix it over there...the engine goes into cycle at 2500 RPM....i mean at this TPS adjustment...if i rev the engine gently exactly at 2500 RPM it seems that the REV limiter starts working...nd it goes to 1500 and then comes back to 2500....but if i push it a lil more it can go on further....

need to get into serious technical stuff to tune it myself...

Assalam-O-Aliekum,can any one please help me out that my baleno 1.6 was giving me 15 km/l and after getting it tuned is has come down to 8 km/l?

I got it tuned from Khan motors,there were denso k16 plugs installed he told me to change them as they are not the geniune ones and replaced them by NGK BKR6EY11.

First I was using Zic A+ then I started using Toyota Petron and now I am using Mobil Super 2000 btw all the three are imported and reliable.

I have never used Petromin in my entire life..
Once used Havoline Motor oil and that was the worst ever experience..

hmm thx...and the second problem is that I got cng installed but removed it after a couple of months after that petrol`s smell comes inside the car and there is no leak apparantly?

do not overfill the tank, when the filling nozzle shutoff automatically its time to stop filling...

Also check for any visible leaks at engine bay, beneath car..etc

You must have replaced the plugs as well, my experiencce with 1.3 Baleno changing bkr6e(0.8mm gap) to bkr6e-11(1.1mm gap) changes petrol mileage from 15 to 12.
This is for 1.3 cannot say for sure about 1.6

Assalam-O-Aliekum,I have baleno 1.6 gti on petrol and I am concerned with its fuel average,it was giving almost 15km/l,few days back i got it tuned on computer after that it is giving me 8km/litre.

secondly I got cng installed but uninstalled it after a couple of months,after uninstalling a smell of petrol comes into the car....there is no leak apparently ,so why it comes?

i m not intend to say that petro is bad oil,infact its a brilliant oil,seen your post there so i am inquiring about it:)

Due to sever weather this year i felt that cold starting was a problem in winters so i changed oil this Dec in 2011 to Mobil 1000 and i was way happy with its performance..
Now as the summers have already started and CNG further increase the heat inside engine i put petromun again in March 2012, just out of curiosity, wanted to know what other beleno brothers are using.

I am certain for one thing that that the oil should be 20w50.

you mean to say Havoline 10w30..
and what abt its use in summers with CNG? (as i think that for summers with extreme heat and AC on in a high mileage car,you need a thicker oil..)
just my opinion may not be the fact..

Baleno brothers plz tell me which brake pads are you using that are giving you Best braking without noise.. member responce from Rawalpindi are desperately required.. i used TRW germany from Kohinoor autos but they make sever noise just after 1K, i also used MK but dont know whether they are genuine or 2 no, not happy with them too..

trw is an italian brand for ignition parts,how come you got them made in germany,will you care to post the pics:-!
