Tips for Baleno

I just purchased a 2001, baleno 1.6 gti. i want to know which oil is best for it. and which plugs? i have been through most of the posts in this thread but they are regarding 1.3 baleno. also, the pick is not that impressive. and when i turn the steering, it gives a tuk tuk sound. its not from the GODA. comes from somewhere under the speedo meter area.
Is there any good workshop for baleno in saddar, rawalpindi. and is enercon the best guy for tuning or is someone else better in islamabad?

As you might figure, noises pointing to problems in the steering wheel column should not be ignored. If left unattended, the problems may turn into life threatening situations.
There is no shortcut to pinpoint the actual problem unless seen carefully,mostly it would be worn bearings inside the steering column or low power steering fluid level.
Bearing at bottom of steering spindle or the bearing at top of steering spindle are **** to get dry and become the source of sound.
Check the steering fluid level first.
Put your hand on the strut tower under the steering wheel while turning the wheel and see if you can feel any grinding or vibration.
Third possible option to check is look for where the steering column comes out of the firewall and connects to the shaft coming from the steering box there is a joint that has a rubber/canvas coupling this joint allows the column to be at a different angle,if the coupling is worn out you will need to replace it.

what about the plugs and oil? its mileage is over 150 thousand so i was thinking about caltex motor oil, 20w40.

Which workshop is better in pindi? AAA or Baleno Master?

instead of AAA i would recommend Suzuki 3 s workshop.

AAA are just desi ustaads.their top ustaad Aslam is rarely found in workshop ie he arrives @ 12 noon, disappears for lunch at 1 noon from 3 to 4 noon comes again and disappears @ 6 pm. he will always ask someone, a chota ustaad to examine/ ruin your car:(. hardly takes any interest now..

and where is this baleno master workshop:S , never heard of this workshop. perhaps some one reading this thred made up a workshop :P.

Btw you are a life/money savor for a lot of people who are considering replacement of coils. My car was lagging / missing on 1st and 2nd gear and following your instructions i inspected the air intake system using the most complicated and expensive equipment "a tissue paper" and found that there were air leakage at several points which was rectified and cars runs as smooth as a brand new one. THANKS TO YOU

my 1.3 JXR baleno consumes more than my 1.8 altis VVTI......... i went on the same route twice and noticed it........ y is it so??????shud i tune it??? the route was uphill..... baleno pick was impressive after shutting down air entry in my filter box.......

baleno's average on petrol with light foot is about 15/16,obviously on uphill task it will consume more due to low gears and high rpm.

I tried to find baleno master on adamjee road yesterday but could not find it. so went to another place. most problems have been fixed. But there still one problem. the brake pedal is very soft. i can push it all the way down to the floor. the brake pads and shoes are new and brake drum is in good condition too. but still pedal is too soft. mechanic removed a bit of air from brakes but that did not help much.

Does the same procedure of shutting down the air intake box closely apply on 1.6 gti?

can you further elaborate the type of sound?
if it comes when accelerating the engine,it might be serious too,i mean crank shaft bearings:o which are called main big ends,but to assume it as a main big end sound is too early,first its better to clarify the type of sound.
resonator is located behind the fog lamp inside the fender shield and under the air filter hosing.

if you are using tyres that have a larger diameter than the recommneded ones then the gap between your arches and tyres will definately be less..
to check the recommened tyre size plz correlate the recommended tyre size on the driver side door pillar near the seat area and then check again on the tyres what tyres size you are using..

if they are OK. then you have to open up the struts assembly ie shock aborbers and springs. I am using XLI springs in rear to counter for the cng cylinder weight along with baleno shock absorbers.. working fine till now apart from a TUK sound sometimes because longer springs sometimes absorb the impact without letting the shock absorbers to open properly..

here is how to check the shock absorbers properly. dont let the desi ustaad jee trick you by selling the whole strut assembly, you ve to make him open the stut assembly ie shocks seperated from springs..

^^ your shock absorber is not like this, its part of an assembly with springs and shock absorbers, it is just to show that weak shock absorber wont come up easily or will stay at a lower level.., also whil doing it compare the 4 shock absorbers to find that which one is weak..

but why altis even being 1800cc consumes less than this 1.3 baleno(same driver,same road,same load)??????? in baleno 3 plugs r DENSO 2 pin n 1 is NGK 1 pin(figured out 2day soon will change this 4th one too)........

kia yeh goonj clutch press karnay par khatam ho jati hai ? agar haan to gear k bearings mai se koi bearing awaz kar raha hai.. aur agar clutch k press karnay par b awaz hai to thrust bearing (clutch bearing) b ho sakta hai.
is k ilawa silencer waghera kisi jaga se body k sath touch ho raha ho tab b goonj aye gi..
gear oil ka level check karain woh kam ho to gear awaz kartay hain.
plain road par speed mai gaari chala kar ek dam neutral kar k awaz sunain agar to gaari bilkul khamosh ho jati hai to phir gear ki awaz hai
aur agar awaz ati hai to phir koi wheel bearing b awaz kar sakta hai aur silencer pipe b...
check all above and post result

2day i went to 3S abbottabad....... they know not even a thing about baleno..... 1st they changed plugs from 2pin to 1pin claiming that they r good....... (i know their contract thing with NGK)... pick just died with that 1 pin NGK ****...... then they couldnt fix the air filter box tightly...... later i taped it myself n got it ok......... so conclusion that........ 3S ABBOTTABAD IS SHITTTTT.......wanna ruin ur car with no baleno physics knowledge just meant to fulfill their contracts....... then go there............. dont know why the hell suzuki made a thing here which they cant manage....... n so that was my 1st n last visit there.....

serious n urgent..... Ï tightened my airfilter box..... Now wen ï started it now. It busted open with a little blast.... Wtf is it now someone reply fast....... its also doing missing ....... air filter wen tightened gets exploded........ skill??????faith??????

clean cam sensor (a two minutes job) and also check crank sensor (easy but do it with the help of a mechanic), also check the ignition coils and change spark plugs if necessary.

now where iz the cam sensor???????? it occured just 2day:(...... shud leave the air filter loose or else it ll blow up....... wat u suggest........ going to change the plugs............. n coil
