Tips for Baleno

PKDM 1.6 G16b engine are hardly found in scrap yard...mostly available are G15 with similar head.

Post 2001 G13b are with waste spark technology earlier it was equipped with coils at a side of head, in contract G16b is with distributor, there is no dedicated CAM sensor as ECU gets CAM position data from disti.

to fit it over g13b maybe you need to do some alteration in wiring to feed ECU with required data...

G16b is a screamer but with hell of torque...till 2010 when i had been using it as main car and was in top notch condition, i smoked all sort of cities, xlis glis of that era...loosing only to VTI due to vtec at higher RPMs civic maintained its power band, however suzuki kinda start loosing it....still it packs a little surprise when u floor it..

no idea abt head cost, but my guess is that it will be within 15k limit

my baleno is with side coils setup too - JXR 2004 PKDM model. i believe it came with same waste spark coil on top setup like Liana. so that side coil setup is an alteration or did baleno ever had that setup of its own?

as i mentioned till 2000 ( 1.3 - gli, glip etc ) came with side coil set up...after that 1.6 was discontinued and 1.3 came with waste spark tech with coils over head...

now after wrong maintenance some balenos with waste spark developed back fire issue AKA patakah damaka opening filter box, which noone was smart enough to fix n understand so they used to fix it by juggar installing previous model side coil setup boasting to resolve the patakha issue...

if u look closely one head you with find two screw point to fix coils on the tappet cover

waise the jugaar is correct. my baleno never gives patakhas or back fires at all yes i have seen small screw points on my tappet cover and Liana and Baleno share the same coils i believe

What is the correct method to get the required job from coil over plug waste spark system.

choosing spark plugs as per manufacturer specs. verifying coil resistance should be within spec limit and other sensors to be working properly..

avoid double/triple or other fancy spark plugs...car would be happy and trouble free.

Due to flat tappet of Baleno, I must strictly use API SG/SJ oil or not?

Which brand valve seals and head gasket is the best. I am going to change valve seals only. As the car smokes blue only in the morning for a minute or less.

Someone has recently shared coil over head resistance values, but he was not sured about its values that whether okay or not. Please someone with good working coils on CNG share the values. Thanks

i have side coils installed in my baleno which work perfectly work for CNg as well as Petrol. but never needed to measure resistance of them. why do you want to know that?

Infact I have recently bought this car, it has company fitted CNG setup but only cylinder removed by the previous owner. I want to install CNG before that I want to measure coils resistance so that I will know its condition and running performance on CNG.

Did anyone replace fuel filter or clean
I m planning to clean or replace fuel filter.did anyone do.if yes what u recommend change it with plastic one whats the price of metal body genuine from where i get

I hv changed it about an year ago. Price was around 400 Rs. as i remember. Got it from PK autos in sultan ka khoo rwp. N it was same metal type. I would suggest go for new one.
Did u check filter condition in fuel tank? Its better to check and replace that as well if needed.
Did u find any further details about coil resistance? I want to check for my car as well. Guidance will be appreciated.

I had removed my self and cleaned it with petrol in opposite direction lot of black colour came out and when clean petrol came I again fitted back. . No issue
It costs 2500- 2800 for genuine and 500 for local type as I asked one dealer on call.

I also was done it my self it hardly take 1 hour.a little tricky when removing and installing back because of conjusted space.havr u grease its bushes as well as arm.
Black material is because of carbon brush wear have to check carbon brush remaining thickness at 12 mm recommended to change.

We are talking about fuel filter black colour. U cannot open it as it is sealed ....
