Minex, Nice info bro.... There is just one thing I want to add... after driving in water that is above half of car's wheels, while parking try not to park with the hand breaks ON, just leave the car in Gear.. Otherwise there is a chance of breaks being jammed to the Drums / Disks.. This may happen if you park the car for long i.e.

@minex , nice info:) what abt the engine side ?
ie, what abt somehow covering the plugs coz thats where usually the water goes n screws it up .

you cant do much abt that.

. if you drive slow.. the water wont get to the plugs...and the distributor cap.. those are the two vulnerabe areas of older cars...

just make sure that the plug covers (rubber that covers it) is in place... but if you drive fast..and splash water on to the engine... nuthing is going to help...

tips in driving in water?

more like tips in cleaning roadside drains to ensure they are functioning properly. I know it has rained a lot in Pakistan but still not as much as in England this year. I am aghast as to why the government to not have good road drainage system on streest in main cities and especially the capital, Islamabad. This is a fairly new city and you would expect teh government to have newer drainage for the capital's roads. But i also think the locals should be doing their bit by not litering the roads, that enevitably goes down the drain.

Even so, the cda ppl should do more in drain cleaning. I mean its chucking it down here in uk now but i do not see any roads that are flooded.

you might not be aware that islamabad is going through a major construction phase... 3 new Expressways are being constructed.. one of which has been completed with 4 underpasses... 3 other underpasses are under construction on the other 2 expressways.... new buildings are being constructed.. thats why there has been this extra inconvenience.. this year... cos of that there has been sum mud and stones which have blocked the drainage .. and caused mud on the road...

plus whenever there is a rainfall in isb..mostly its is very heavy.. very very heavy.. its like a down pour...a cloudburst...specially in this monsoon season...

and after the heavy rain.. the roads automatically clear up within an hour or 2..where there was inconvenience...

all we need to do is to clear up the drainage... again and again.. untill this major construction phase is over..
i know that even during the construction phase.. this should not happen.. but this construction phase is just too big...

OK Thanks for letting me know. seems like islamabad is going places. Is this the area where there are making the new hotels, malls etc. i.e cenaturus tower, grand hyatt hotel etc.

exactly...

plus the whole Nazimmudin road from f-6 to f-11 has been doubled, almost complete..

the expressway from pindi stadium road... passing through the green belt between i-9 and i-8 h9 and h8 passing through peshawer morh..uptill the margalla road between f-9 and f-8... 2 underpasses are under construction on that express highway...

plus the Citibank intersection of blue area on islamabad highway... a huge underpass is underconstruction over there... besides centaurus..

2 more underpasses are under construction at china chowk intersection... ..

a new road is under constuctoin with the fazle haq road (the back side road of blue area..)

one or two other underpasses are being constructed on the thirs expressway which will connect aabpara road to margalla road...

plus the current main blue area road.. has been extended and made into a 4 lane road on each side... earlier it was a 2 lane road on each side..

thats as much as i can remember now....

one of them is almost 50 % complete...

the other will start shortly..

the islamabad stock exchange tower is being constructed in blue area...

Great post! Here are my two cents...

When you hit the water, a bow wave is formed, try to keep behind it in the "trough" of the wave.

Also, a large cloth completely blocking the front grille before entering water helps reduce water flow into the radiator, cooling fan and thus minimizes the formation of spray. This protects your cars electronics.

IF U STRUCK N THE ENGINE IS OFF THEN KEEP THE CAR IN GEAR N KEEP CRANKING WITHOUT CLUTCH,IF UR BTY ISS STRONG IT WILL TAKE U OUT OF IT BY JRERKS, FIRST OF ALL DONT PANIC N DONT SPEEDUP IN WATER AS SPLASHES MAY ENTER ANYWHERE N THE CAR IS SWITCHED OFF, KEEP IT IN LOW GEARS WITH HI REVS,AUTO PEOPLE KEEP IT IN LOWEST OPTION LIKE 2 OR D2 IN HONDAS,ABOVE ALL IF NOT NECCESSARY DONT GO OUT.
