I get lot of queries on how to identify fake spark plugs from original. Although they both look identical, there are minor differences which can help in spotting the fake ones. The pictures reference denso plugs, and I shall update for NGK plugs later on.1. Ground electrode weld Mark -> Original plugs have bigger weld mark.2. Laser printed serial number -> Fake plugs do not have any serial number3. Iridium Tip -> Original plugs have bluish tip base with golden color iridium crown on the top and laser weld mark just below the tip. Fake ones have either completely blue tip from base to top or just a silver color tip. The pictures compare Denso part no SC20HR11
seriously this thread existed no wonder
Same feeling here. Wish I knew about this thread just a couple of weeks back when I changed spark plugs of my car.
Technical forums are no longer popular now. People are more interested in day night debates on cars which have not even launched. Same goes for Do it yourself activities
Thanks for sharing Please also share performance observations between original and fake
Rough idling, bad fuel average along with incorrect plug heatrange resulting in higher temp in cylinder.
Pardon me but I could not understand the difference between the welding points in the second pic. Can somebody explain, please
