Imran Bhai zoo is in Lalazar near Nathiagali, its on Nathiagali- Mushkpuri trek (around 0.75km hike from Nathiagali) but it will be closed in winter (if u r planning for winter),

Pipeline trek is amongst most feasible treks for families especially couples (is probably most romantic- if u r romantic :))

Here is some information previously posted relating to Galiyaat.

Other than these, u can attempt 2 treks from Murree area:
- Jheka Gali - Bhurban Trek
- Lower Topa - Patriata Trek

I assume this will be your very first visit to the Galiyaat region. Your idea of spending one month in Galiyaat is not something alien. Lots of people have homes in galiyaat and majority of them spend long vacations but usually away from Murree. Hot spots are Khaira Gali, Khanas Pur and Nathia Gali (for long vacations).

You can divide your trip in 2 parts.

First week, stay in Murree and visit following:

- Murree town itself
- Kashmir Point
- Pindi Point
- Patriata
- Bhurban
- Kohala Picnic Point

Then follow @conflicted's advice and move on to Khanapur and find a small hut on rent there. I have spent 1 week in Khanaspur and there are lots of personal houses / huts there which are available for rent. Now from this point, it will be easy for you to cover upper areas of Galiyaat region.

Visit following:
- Ayubia
- Nathia Gali
- Dunga Gali
- Mukshpuri Trek
- Dunga Gali - Ayubia Trek
- Ayubia - Khaira Gali Trek
- Namli Maira villages below Nathia Gali
- Harnoi picnic point
- Abbottabad
- Thandiani

You should be able to get a good deal on personal house / hut in Khanaspur which will suit your budget. If that doesn't work then try to find a personal house / hut in Khaira Gali residential area which is above the main bazaar. There, again u will find many personal homes / huts which are available for rent.

I would suggest to keep your personal car with you as fuel expense will be very less per day. Otherwise renting a vehicle for 1 month will cost a lot.

You should stay in Nathia Gali and try some mild trekking in Galiyaat region in this visit
- Mukshpuri Top
- Miranjani Top
- waterfall area ahead of starting point of Miranjani trek,
- Donga Gali to Ayubia pipeline trek
- Ayubia to Khaira Gali Pipeline trek
- Harnoi river picnic point between Nathia Gali and Abbottabad
- You can also plan a day visit to Thandiani
- If u r little adventurous then u can visit Bakot forest deep in valley between Mukshpuri and Miranjani
- Visit Khanaspur near Ayubia. Go down from main town and u will find secluded places with fruit and vegetable cultivation There is a cricket ground as well
- There is a small trek behind Kalabagh base near Nathia Gali for a waterfall.

Me and my friends here just try to help and assist the travellers and trekkers.

Easy treks include:
- Donga Gali to Ayubia or opposite (i call it honeymoon trek ) 1 hour straight walk without climb of around 4 km
- Ayubia to Khaira Gali or opposite - 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs straight trek with no climb but immensely beautiful with lots of natural jungle feel of around 10 km
- Kalabagh base waterfall trek is also relatively easy but while going to waterfall u go down and on way back u have to climb a little to main road. It is around 4 km round trip of around 2 - 2.5 hrs

Mukshpuri is middle difficulty level with 1.5 hr to 2 hour for climb and 1 hour for descend. Last half hour is tough but Mukshpuri Top gives amazingly beautiful views all around and is worth the effort.

Miranjani is the toughest trek of 8 km round trip. It takes 2.5 hours to 3 hrs for climb and 1.5 hours for descend. The trophy is that this is the highest peak of the region and views are equally amazing.

Harnoi is 30-40 min away from Nathia Gali on way to Abbottabad/Thandiani and you can stay there for 1,2 hours and then continue towards Thandiani. We have done Thandiani trip with short stay at Harnoi 2 times while staying in Khaira Gali which is at more distance as compared to Nathia Gali. Weather is always good at Thandiani but there is no good place to stay there so a day trip is recommended.

Hey !!! i was right there in feb 2010, but not with Icecream....i was with Soup and Coffee as we are from KHI.

Main bhi each year Feb main wahan jata hun but khanay peenay nahi bal k Mushkpuri snow trek kernay. Its very easily feasible for me because can be done in 1 day.
